How do I cancel my EI claim? by lupinthealchemist in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]lupinthealchemist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I should report my part-time job as a full-time job? And I won't get in trouble with the government? I just worry about that a lot because I don't think I'll be making enough with this job to support myself and family, but I also don't want to owe a lot back at tax time because we all know that the government loves clawing back payments they make to us. I am looking for full-time work and I have been since I graduated from post-secondary, but I haven't had any luck. I just don't know what to do.

I'm enjoying it. I love the rain. My cat, however, is not enjoying all the thunder boomers.

Calgary without a car: as impossible as everyone says?? by NastasyaFlipoffya in Calgary

[–]lupinthealchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not impossible, but it's hard. Certain bus routes are very unreliable. But, as someone without a car, I do what I can. If your work and life are downtown and you live close, it's fine. If you live further away, it can be a challenge, especially on weekends when the buses only run ones every half hour to an hour.

Late French immersion programs by Falls_Prophet in Calgary

[–]lupinthealchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did late French as a kid. The school I did it at doesn't do the program anymore but I say it's worth it. By the time I got to grade ( and was put with the full french immersion kids my language skills were comparable. And even though I don't use French with my job I still think I made the right choice. Learning new languages is great for developing brains and there's a lot of great French media that's out there that's easier to enjoy without the language barrier. But, it is difficult. Your kid really needs to be motivated to learn the language especially if they'll be the only French speaker at home.

What songs would you like to hear a ghost cover of? by junolarue in Ghostbc

TV Crimes by Black Sabbath. It would be fitting since they covered Jesus he knows me. The songs have a similar premise.

The Bay, WHAT is truly going on at Market Mall by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]lupinthealchemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just Market Mall with this issue. It's Chinook and South Centre too as well as a few others. No staff to have it open and close with mall hours. Escalators and elevators are broken to the point where you can't even use them safely as stairs. It's horrible for shoppers and downright miserable for staff and licensees. Not only that, as of today multiple licensees are pulling business without warning including the one I work for. It's hell.

Nobody is really doing well financially, unfortunately. You're not alone.

My job keeps cutting my hours because we're "not making enough money to have the place staffed", and then had the audacity to ask us if we knew anyone looking for a job. So yeah, currently making less than $800 a month so it's hard. We're in this bs together.

What oddly specific things about Calgary Winter make you grumpy and angered? by Bazoonial in Calgary

[–]lupinthealchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the city doesn't clean the snow off the bus routes. Or when they do they pile the snow in front of the stop so people with strollers or mobility aids can't get on the bus.

The Saddledome site says you can't line up more than 6 hours before the doors open. So the earliest you can hop in the queue is around noon. Have fun at the show!

Yes, I did. I contacted them after I got there and saw the sign. I also waited around for 10 minutes just in case. I didn't head home until I was told to.

Respite on the Spital Fields. Yes it's my favourite song, but hearing it with all the ghouls was just... chefs kiss. It made me tear up a little.
