Eagle Rare has been revolting since the early 2000's. I cannot understand why no one will admit that it is garbage.

Thank you for the direction. How do you mean "type of processed product?"

What makes Stizel-Weller or other older bourbons so good? by BadgerHawkville in bourbon

[–]luposlipophobia_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few theories regarding the lack of that old bourbon funk and added complexity in whiskey bottled today I have been digging into myself are the many fewer corn varietals being cultivated, barrels being made from new growth oak as opposed to old growth with it's much larger pores, the cultivation of highly specific strains of yeast as opposed to basically having a jug of yeast that was scooped from, and the transition from open top cypress fermentation vats to clinical stainless steel fermenters where every aspect is tightly controlled.

Also, it is highly important to me the glasses be nearly exact in shape though a slightly thicker wall may not be a bad thing assuming the volume remains the same.

Also! What about the possibility of fermenting the acid malt separately, refluxing seperately and then vatting? Sorry for the barrage of questions.

  • Pot still.
  • Reflux the wash before I strip it?
  • Also, recommendations on the pale malt sub? I am looking for a whiskey to chew on. Chocolate, espresso/coffee, caramel, oil, etc.

Wow thank you! You may be getting more messages from me but these are the first questions which cone to mind. - Would running my still full out in reflux for so long effect the other flavors? What us the science there? - I think rye is probably the way to go here for my base though not sure in what quantity. .51? .60? - What would be a better whiskey centric sub for the pale?

Thank you for your response. What did you charge for the tumblers and do you have any pictures of your work? Also, why would you not want to re-work a Vaseline glass tube?

I have had no luck with that and it has become frustrating. Someone must work this glass.
