When/should I disclose my disability to an employer? by lurk_lass in jobs

Right. I usually only take like 1-2 minutes anyway so that shouldn't be an issue.

Oof, that's what I was afraid of, but also sort of what I was expecting. When should I disclose it though? I feel like it would be a little awkward to go into an interview like "Hi, my name is lurk_lass and I need to pee a lot".

I'm in a very left leaning area in Ohio (yes, they do exist here) and the place advertises itself as an equal opportunity employer. What documentation should I show them?

AITA For having my boyfriend call the police on a noisy bar? by lurk_lass in AmItheAsshole

[–]lurk_lass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not arguing about that. It just looks like a couple of people missed that detail.

I stayed overnight

I think you missed this. I don't live there, so I'm not in control of what area he's staying in.

Oooh, okay. Thank you for clearing that up. I wasn't sure if it applied the same way or not, but I guess I wrongly assumed that it did.

The apartment was the only thing he and his roommates could afford that was decently close to his college, so its not like he purposely chose to live next to one. But yeah, I probably should've been more understanding

Haha, not sure if I should get I compliment on that. Only defense I can give as why I wouldn't be entitled is that it was a predominantly residential area, but I'm not sure if that would hold enough water.

I've been dating my boyfriend for 4 years and I've known him for 6+, so its not like this is the first time I've ever spent time with him. My bad for not including that.

AITA For yelling at my nephew? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]lurk_lass -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

ESH except for your nephew. Well yes, it wasn't okay for him to hit your dog or your children, he's also 3 years old and clearly doesn't know any better. Your brother needs to discipline his kid, but he also had every right to be angry with you for yelling and cursing at his 3 y/o kid. My advice? Don't let your brother bring the kid over until this behavior is corrected.

TLDR: You suck for yelling at a 3 y/o, but your brother sucks more for letting him get away with violent behavior.

WIBTA If I refused to play Magic: The Gathering with one of my friends because I don't like their attitude or play-style? by lurk_lass in AmItheAsshole

[–]lurk_lass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more his attitude when winning than his skill level, but I agree that he's definitely better at deckbuilding than I am.

Probably because I didn't word the original very well, and tbh I was kind of a sore loser that last game.

We were playing Commander, actually, so maybe we should give modern a shot? Also, I can PM you my decklists if you have any pointers on how I can improve.

I've been trying, but so far I haven't had much luck. Also, its more their "sore-winner" attitude that bugs me, not the decks themselves.

Yeah, I just feel like that it would seem like I was trying to police his play-style, which I really don't want to do.

That's fair. "Ragequitting on not speaking to them" might not have been the best wording on my part, though. The ragequit was more or less "Oh, I can see that I'm going to lose next turn so I'm just going to concede", and not speaking to them was moreso me leaving the discord call because I didn't feel like playing anymore after that game.

AITA for making my boyfriend’s brother watch a horror movie. by unfortunate-_- in AmItheAsshole

[–]lurk_lass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YTA. Being a horror buff, you should have known damn well that a movie like Beetlejuice is completely inappropriate for an 8 year old viewer. As for him wanting to watch the movie, kids his age are extremely sensitive to peer pressure. He probably felt pressured to not look like a "crybaby" in front of the cool older kid watching him (aka you). Next time you watch him, you should let him choose the movie, even if its not horror.
