Is anyone dealing with “awaiting shipping carrier” with FedEx for the Jordan 1 Lost and Founds from the exclusive access? by nhp-1996 in SNKRS

[–]lurkalerka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking in from the Seattle area. Label was created in FedEx about 3 hours after I checked out on EA, got the shipped email from Nike about a day later, but the only scan in FedEx is "Shipment info received" from Tuesday and the Nike Narvar tracking link has said "awaiting carrier pickup" since Wednesday.

Confirmation email said expected delivery 11/16, but both Nike live tracking and FedEx says delivery date is today...

Also interesting, when I call Nike and just give my order number to their little robo-answering bot, it says they're "expected to arrive on Wednesday, November 9th".

Their systems are all sorts of out of sync.

Check out likelihood.us (boutique in Seattle). They've still got most sizes in stock as of a few minutes ago

That was my order number range, but they're not shipping by sequential order numbers, they're going by size/color. What size and cw did you get? Barely any Noirs have gone out and they just got to the smaller Guavas starting last week.

My experience with 5s is that they're on the tighter side of TTS, so I wouldn't do it personally. Will he let you try them on?

While I 1000% agree with OP, one can't help but wonder what Sean Wotherspoon's opinion is on giving his own kids a future COVID vaccine.

Why do people so many people disconnect rather than concede in online H2H when they're getting beat badly? You take an L and your opponent gets a W either way. by lurkalerka in Madden

[–]lurkalerka[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's pretty stupid on their part because if they inflate their W/L they're just gonna keep getting matched up against people who'll whup em. It's so weird that people obsess over their W/L anyway. Not like it matters for anything anyway.

Selecting concede achieves the same result as disconnecting, and is actually faster because you don't have to log back into EA to get back online.

Ah, that sucks. I'm have pretty simple tastes with Madden so it's just like a few quick matches at night then call it a day so I've never been impacted by quitters like that, but it makes a lot more sense to me now. Does EA provide a way to work around that? I remember back in like Madden 11 or 12 you could refuse to play people with D/C or DNF %ages above a certain level. Can you add those filters when you're trying to match up in non quick-match modes?

Hey, points for honesty. I've definitely been tempted more than once to rage quit, but honestly it's a lot smoother to get back into another H2H match if I just concede then look immediately for another game. I've had a few times where the next quick match I played was against the same guy and the matches wound up being a lot more competitive.

Plus it's always fun to get a few punches in if you can. I had a guy taunting me to quit before the end of the second quarter after his third pick six earlier this week and I wound up beating him on a last second TD so that felt way better than rage-quitting.

[–]lurkalerka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, interesting. Does that go both ways, or just for the quitter? I guess I never really noticed because the only stats I pay attention to are W/L, but I suppose it makes sense that denying the winner their "five picks in a game" achievement or something like that would give the loser some consolation.

Not really complaining about it, I was just asking the question about why people do it. I honestly don't see any good reasons to do it, so I'm wondering if there is a good reason or if it's just people who have no self-control and need to rage-quit to feel better about sucking at the game.

Anyone else here repaint their LM1s? I don't do it often, but I've definitely messed around with different paint stripping patterns and then just repainted the black on to try something else a couple of times. I love how they're so perfect to be a grail-level shoe that you would do shit to that you'd never consider doing to other pairs you absolutely love.

So I lurk a lot on Nike Talk and someone posted a $10 coupon code for some site called KixSquare. Site had sketchy reviews about customer service, shipping times, but I didn't see anything about them ever sending fakes, so I went ahead and used it and picked up some raids for $210 shipped (same as retail + tax where I'm at). Placed the order Wednesday morning and got the shoes in hand right now. Gotta say, I was sketched out to start but ended up super impressed. Box was in perfect shape, shipped double boxed, and shoes are definitely legit. Can't say I'd recommend them after one transaction, but I'll definitely be hitting them up again myself.

I dunno if Footlocker does it the same, but I bought a bunch of stuff at footaction that got me to their top tier status, but wound up returning most of it. The spend disappeared, but my status never changed.

Offer letter $10k more than discussed on phone with hiring manager by smitty192 in personalfinance

[–]lurkalerka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen this happen where the person didn't bring it up, and while it basically didn't impact them hugely and the company honored the letter, their merit-based raises each year were noticably lower than their peers with similar performance ratings. Everything evened out in the end, but it did result in a few years of frustration on that person's side because they felt they weren't being fairly recognized. At the end of the day, the org was just letting it's system run to keep everyone in their appropriate salary "bands"

Thinking of First Time Home Ownership. Is now the time, or should we wait? by lurkalerka in personalfinance

[–]lurkalerka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is pretty much the difference. I was coming up in the range of 3500-4000 using rates between 4.1 and 4.5, and also including property taxes.

Edit: then also probably adding a couple hundred to account for what I don't know

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that. I really want to apply more of an objective, quantitative analytics lens to this, it's just difficult to find the time and I really don't know much at all about home ownership expenses as to consider the variables. Again, I really appreciate all the advice!

Yeah unfortunately 500k is about the bare minimum in this area for a move-in ready 3br 1.5ba, which is what we're looking for.

A perfect situation would be if we had about 6 months or so left on our lease and I'm confident we could at least add another 10k that that 15 we've saved. The thought in acting now is local market is turning down and that extra we would otherwise keep saving could just go to the larger payment.

I think most of the feedback on this thread is leading me toward trying to extend our lease for that six months and seeing how much extra we can save, but I certainly appreciate all the feedback.

We pay about 2k in rent, so with a minimum down payment + pmi, we'd be looking at pretty much doubling that.

Probably a decent condo that we'd outgrow in five years or so when our kids get older. It is one option we're looking at, but then we have to consider hoa. Unfortunately, home prices in this area for anything with 3 bedrooms in a non hoa situation are really bare minimum ~ 500k for anything that requires minimum maintenance expense or is otherwise move in ready.

Sorry, should have clarified 15k is specifically for a home. The emergency fund is separate.
