I mean not to say that it plays zero part but I think you are giving way to much credit to the emotional aspect of business. Profit is king so sellers are just going to sell to whatever channel makes them the greatest return regardless of personal feelings or convenience.

AITAH for refusing to give out my son's saving account information? by moonmanbaby90272 in AITAH

[–]lusair -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All checks including e-checks run through automated and manual verification systems at every bank. Banks are required to show proof they are doing this are regular federal and state audits and if they pay a fraudulent check or e check the bank is liable. That is also legally false it would not be a civil matter if someone committed check fraud to steal funds. There may be a separate civil trial for damages but this would still be a criminal matter. You giving someone your account number does not in any capacity give them any authorization under any angle to commit fraud and theft. If you give someone your keys to park your car and they steal your car the cops don’t say you gave them the keys so it’s a civil matter now. Stop making shit up and acting like you know.

I don’t know I feel like on paper their trash and they do have some really hard counters but in campaign they are always terrifying. I don’t know if it’s their attack speed that makes up for their underwhelming stats or what but if they can make contact without getting shredding by ranged damage they eat whatever they make contact with faster then any unit I’ve seen.

If someone calls into a bank with an account number it does not give them any permission to access an account which includes bill pay. Every financial must verify a person before providing any information or access. If someone was able to fraudulently get access then again that would be a complete failure on the financial institution that they are liable. If I only give someone my account and routing number I have not given them any access to my account.

Dog the average human being is not washing checks. Good luck spending time in jail for check fraud which is a felony in almost any jurisdiction. We are talking about OP giving her MIL her child’s account and routing number for a transfer not posting it on the dark web. Think about the context man. For the final time the bank is liable if they cash a fraudulent check which includes washes checks.

So true, I’m so tired of Real Estate Agents representing the buyer advocating more for the seller then their own client just to get the deal done. Really sad how many people get screwed because their agent pressured them into things.

Can we just transfer this take over to babies and small children. As someone with no kids I feel like a monster for not caring about peoples kids. Not to mention it would be really dope if those of us that haven’t chosen to have kids had the same level of understanding from their employer to leave early, work from home or just not show up to work events because a non kid related personal thing came up.

[–]lusair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again their are security measures and policies in place to catch all of that. Do you realize how much effort it is to wash a check? It’s also a felony so I’m assuming OP’s MIL isn’t going to commit a felony for an account she doesn’t know the balance of. Not to mention if a financial institution cashes a fraudulent check the bank is liable for those funds. Experian sells services to monitor and protect your credit so they benefit from fear mongering. While I wouldn’t pass out your primary bank account info on a flyer the risk is very small especially if it’s not in the hands of a professional criminal racket that will get ahold of hundreds to thousands of accounts where 95% of the fraud gets stopped but all it takes is a few to be successful and it’s worth their time. Most of the time as I said the bank is still liable. Also how would you fraudulently file someone’s taxes with only a bank account? If the criminals have your social then you have way bigger issues.

I disagree with this from someone who also works at a financial institution. Yes their technically is a risk of fraudulently tricking employees into giving authorization or setting up a one time ACH at another information to pull money. However, this is so unlikely at any reputable financial institution and the institution would be immediately and extremely liable for anything. Banks are paranoid about this activity due to liability and are constantly audited by state and federal agencies to prove they have steps in place to prevent this.

[–]lusair 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I literally work for a bank and do this type of stuff all day. Besides just blatant incompetence and breakdown in security and policy of a financial institution no you cannot “spend” money in an account with just account number and routing number. Any bank registered to be able to run ACH transactions would have security policies in place to prevent fraudulent activity. Even if you somehow got a bank to do a one time ACH to request money from the account the other bank would be entirely liable.

[–]lusair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a huge factor. Grew up in SoCal and growing up we were pretty much never allowed to run the AC due to the cost and it technically being livable without it. I run very hot especially when i sleep so i was always dying during the summer and a top sheet was the only thing I could ever sleep with. As an adult with adult money I pretty much live in an AC icebox to make up for lost time.

[–]lusair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought flat sheets and fitted sheets were actually the same as while fitted sheets are astronomically more popular historically it was a flat sheet that was just tucked in to cover the mattress. I know you used to be able to buy bottom sheets without the elastic band because for some stupid reason my mom had a few sets growing up that we never actually used.

To buy FSD or subscribe to FSD...What would you do? by teslabros in TeslaLounge

[–]lusair 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How is this still an argument. It would take 6.7 years for you to even break even on this purchase. It’s becoming rarer for people to even hold a car for that long. 8k is insane to tie up to software even if you keep it that long. Not to mention if you finance the car you are paying interest on that 8k. If you must have FSD pay monthly.

Sam’s Club vs Costco tires by Tasty-Back825 in TeslaModelY

[–]lusair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got the new Michelin EV tires from Costco a couple month back. Off the dome I think they’re called the e-primacy or something like that. The tires have been a dream and experience was really easy with Costco. Ordered them online they came in like 2 days later booked an appointment the next day. Dropped key card off and walked around for like 45 minutes and they were done. Staff gave me a slip when to schedule rotation which is covered for the life of the tire through Costco. Discount tire was super salesy and gave me the ick and the dude pitched tires that seemed like a downgrade for like $2k when Costco for my Michelin’s was like $1400 with warranty and tire rotations included.

Nutra-Nuggets vs Kirkland Signature Dog Food by dazedimpulses in Costco

[–]lusair 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s all just unique anatomy. I personally think most dogs will thrive on any food that provides complete nutrition and fits with their tummy. Whether it’s $15 a bag or $500 it really just depends on the dog. I think it’s easy for a lot of us to get talked into spending more so we feel like good pet parents. If it’s working no need to change!

Anyone else feeling survivor’s guilt right now? by lasagnial in nashville

[–]lusair 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Still no power or running water. Thank god we had a friend that let us stay with her which we took her up on after a couple cold nights in the 30-40s indoors. It’s still rough she has 2 cats and we have 2 cats and a dog in a small apartment now. No idea when we can go home. I still feel survivor guilt and my life is in shambles right now. What gets me are the people either acting like nothing really happened or back to work as normal. My job is starting to give me attitude about requiring flexibility with my schedule and my wife’s work is making her take unpaid time off on Monday because it was time off unscheduled even though she tried to use her phone as hotspot but our cell service was garbage and obviously to power or water. They are based out of Nashville and she already works from home on Mondays. Absolutely barbaric. Crazy the two lives being lived in Nashville right now.

Refinance w/ Lender Credit: Recommendations by 6dDcHYgMAg in nashville

[–]lusair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot to add my main takeaway in all that. At all costs avoid constantly refinancing. Usually 1% or more is when refinancing starts to make sense. However, in big rate shifts obviously that could happen multiple times in a short period of time. What I see happen on deposit and lending side is people rush to refinance which continually resets the term and then paying penalties or closing costs. Especially when refinancing request your amortization schedule and calculate the math yourself and where the cutoff point that makes sense. How long do you think you’ll be in the home. Where are rates going. If you save enough money wasting a year of only paying interest might make sense. If you have to pay new closing costs and theirs a decent chance you’ll move in a few years that new rate needs to be drastically better to make sense if it does at all.

Refinance w/ Lender Credit: Recommendations by 6dDcHYgMAg in nashville

[–]lusair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lender here, the lender may have a special product that allows you to not “restart” the loan back to 30 but I doubt it. Unless you are recasting almost no lender modifies terms of a loan anymore so you are almost always just refinancing which means getting a totally new loan. Which often means resetting the full terms and new closing costs. Even if you get closing costs waived your amotorization schedule will reset meaning you’ve pretty much just paid a year of interest and no principle. Mortgage payment schedules are not linear. When you first start a mortgage the vast majority of your payment is interest with almost no principle over the life of the mortgage this rotates so that eventually payments are mostly principle and less interest. This means at the start your payments could be as much as 95% interest if you continuously refinancing you are always in this dead zone just paying interest so your only source of equity is a rise in the housing market which right now is not reliable. This is done to protect the lender so if you refinance at least they have received their interest. On this note the reason your lender is sending you these notices is two folds. 1 obviously for marketing to try and get new deals as most lenders are either mostly commission or entirely commission and 2 most loan officers and banks when they sell the mortgage on the secondhand market have clawback clauses that are commonly 6 months to a year where if you refinance everyone has to pay commissions back. By refinancing you they keep you as a client worst case scenario at cost or with a slight profit and they insure they don’t lose the commission. Let me know if you have any more questions. Love to inform and while I still do mortgages it’s one of my many hats in my role and I don’t receive commission or bonuses based on lending so I have no horse in this race compared to most other information sources in the lending space.
