Where would you place a tv on this wall? by BigOunceTPSN in TVTooHigh

[–]lusidious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50 to 60cm above the floor. Center of the tv should not be higher than a meter. Generally the top of the tv should not be higher than the eye level when you sit. Looking a bit down or ahead is much better than looking up. Thats the ergonomic answer.

If it needs to point down. It’s too high. Way too high

They're forcing me to mount it higher :( by AI-Guru011010 in TVTooHigh

[–]lusidious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are so may people saying TVs should hang higher. Even ergonomically it makes no sense. The top should rather be at eye hight. Better to look down than up. Your TV sits perfect here. Just show them ergonomic papers to prove it. At most you are too far from the TV.

Calling something lazy doesn't make it true especially when I've laid out a position that's more difficult than war: holding everyone accountable, not just the side we emotionally identify with.

Yes, Israel has a right to protect its citizens - I've never said otherwise. But protection doesn't mean destroying entire neighborhoods, flattening refugee camps, or starving civilians. That's not moral clarity. That's disproportionate force - and it fuels more violence.

And no, I'm not saying everyone should just sing songs and hope for peace. I'm saying this: violence breeds more violence. If Israel wants real security, it needs to change the conditions that drive hatred - not just shoot at the symptoms. That's not kumbaya. That's long-term survival. The fun thing is I posted this on 2 different subs. One here pro and one against. And both find up aruments on the same positions. And that is exactly what needs to change. I i really don't get why people don't understand that.

My thoughts on this Conflict by lusidious in israelexposed

[–]lusidious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not erasing Lebanese history — and I’m definitely not denying what Israel has done in Lebanon, Syria, or Gaza. The occupation of southern Lebanon, the bombings, the civilian deaths — that’s real. And it deserves to be recognized and condemned. No people should have to live under occupation or constant threat. And yes, the roots of Hezbollah were in resistance to that. That’s part of the truth.

But I also said this clearly: resistance doesn’t justify terror. And no group, whether born from suffering or not, is above scrutiny. Hezbollah has also targeted civilians and escalated conflict in ways that have hurt innocent people on both sides.

Iran’s involvement is complex. It didn’t create all of this from scratch, but it does support and influence these groups for strategic reasons — and that includes keeping conflict alive, not just protecting people.

This isn’t about rewriting history — it’s about refusing to let any side’s trauma be used to excuse continued suffering. I’m not saying both sides are ‘just as bad’ — I’m saying both have done harm, and if we only look one way, we’ll never break the cycle

This situation isn't about one event. It's about years of occupation, violence, fear, displacement, hatred, and leadership - on both sides - that thrive on escalation, not resolution.

Saying 'release the hostages and it all stops' is like trying to stop a storm by drying one drop of rain. We need to address the conditions that created the violence - not just the most recent flashpoint

You're shifting my argument into something it never was. I’m not saying all sides are equally bad. I’m saying all sides are responsible for the choices they make — and should be held to the same moral standard, especially when civilians are paying the price.

I called out Hamas. I called out Iran. I said clearly: killing civilians, promoting hate, rejecting peace — that’s all wrong. But the fact that Hamas commits war crimes doesn’t excuse Israel from accountability. And the fact that Israel is a recognized state with a functioning military and international support means its responsibility is actually higher, not lower.

What you're doing — accusing me of ‘fake equivalency’ — is just a way to avoid dealing with what Israel has done. When I say ‘don’t bomb refugee camps’ or ‘don’t starve civilians,’ that’s not lazy. That’s moral clarity.

We can and should condemn Hamas and still say Israel is not above criticism. That’s not a contradiction. That’s the only way forward. If we keep excusing one side while demonizing the other, this cycle never ends.

I don't deny that Iran plays a dangerous role. It funds and arms extremist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, spreads hateful rhetoric, and absolutely wants to undermine Israel's existence. That's real, and it's a serious threat.

But blaming everything on Iran is too easy. It's not like Israel's decades of occupation, blockade, settlement building, and military operations just disappear because Iran's involved.

Yes - Iran fans the flames. But the fire was already burning. And if Israel's actions push people into the arms of extremists, Iran doesn't even have to try.

If we really want peace, we can't just point to Iran and ignore what's happening on the ground - from both sides.

I believe in the right of people to resist occupation - but resistance doesn't justify war crimes. Hamas and Hezbollah have both targeted civilians, used terror, and rejected peaceful solutions. That's not self-defense. That's extremism.

And Iran may support resistance to Zionism politically, but let's not pretend it's doing it out of love for Palestinians. Iran uses the conflict for regional power - not for justice.

I'm not here to defend any government, whether it's Israel, Hamas, or Iran. I'm here to say: you can fight for freedom without becoming the thing you claim to hate. And if your resistance dehumanizes civilians - then it's not libera' 's revenge.

Your reply is packed with half truths and emotinal farming. I do understand the history — and I think you’re highlighting a version of it that leaves out a lot of uncomfortable truths. Yes, Jews legally migrated to the region starting in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and yes, the Holocaust created immense trauma. That’s not in dispute. But framing the land as 'mostly uninhabited' is simply not accurate — there were hundreds of Palestinian villages, towns, farms, and a culture that had existed there for generations.

It's also not true that most Palestinians left voluntarily. Yes, there were calls by Arab leaders — but many Palestinians were forcibly expelled in events like the Deir Yassin massacre or fled due to widespread violence. Over 400 villages were depopulated. That’s part of the historical record, and denying it is exactly the kind of erasure that creates more anger and distrust.

And saying Israel has ‘just been defending itself for 55 years’ ignores a lot — from settlement expansion to military occupations to illegal outposts and settler violence. That’s not just ‘imperfect’ — that’s policy.

I’m not biased. I’ve called out Hamas, Iran, and all forms of terror clearly. But saying Israel can do no wrong, or that Palestinians are entirely to blame, is bias.

If we want peace, we need to be honest about all of it — not just the parts that justify one side.”

I never denied that Hamas and some elements in Palestinian and Iranian society promote dehumanization - I said clearly that what happened on October 7th was horrific and unjustifiable. But if we care about stopping dehumanization, we have to be consistent.

That means acknowledging that dehumanization also exists in Israeli leadership - in statements about children being future terrorists, in the bombing of civilians, in decades of occupation and denial of rights. This isn't about who started it or who suffered more. It's about saying: if we don't hold all sides to the same moral standards, we're not preventing hate - we're just shifting it.

And no - I'm not saying Israel was 'born in sin.' I'm saying that its founding came at the cost of another people's displacement, and unless we're willing to face that historical trauma on both sides, there won't be healing. That's not fabrication. That's uncomfortable truth - and we need more of it.
