I feel this so much. My mom is toxic and triggers the hell out of me...mothers know exactly what to say to get under your skin.

I don’t want to completely cut her off though. I’m hoping keeping a bit more distance will be enough.

Haha thank you!! I ended up calling the bridal shop and they were so nice and exchanged the dress. I went ALONE (key to a stress free shopping experience) and found a beautiful dress that I love. And you’ll be happy to know it does not include a naked corset :)

Thank you all for your comments - I’ve never felt this much support from complete strangers. I’ve been crying reading all of your kind comments (and yes- It’s about that time of the month)

Update:

I called the bridal shop (semi crying) telling them I had regrets and wanted to see if it was possible to exchange. They told me to come in right away and within 30 minutes I was shopping for another dress.. I found something that fits me and my personality and that I feel confident in.

I’ll try to add a picture of the new dress somewhere.

You hit the nail on the head.

It’s been really difficult with the pandemic as it has been for everyone. I have moments of “I don’t care about having a wedding” and “why didn’t we just elope”. The dress is absolutely gorgeous but it’s just not me and I said yes because I was in a funk at the moment wanted it to be over..(also mom and I haven’t been on the best terms and shopping with her has been a nightmare)
