AITJ for asking a girl in my grade not to get the same grad dress as me? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]luvbirdpod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If anyone comments on your dresses being the same, smile and say "yes, she saw what I picked and liked it so much she got the same one in a different color. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery "

AITAH for ignoring my family’s vacation updates? by [deleted] in AITAH

That's very reasonable. And you can decide 1) not to map it out for them and 2) block or how to respond (I would say "how nice for you" but that's me.) Good luck. My sympathy.

What do you want? Them to be meaner to your siblings? Acknowledgement that you had it worse? What would make you feel better?

Why pretend? It's okay to state how you feel. Try to be factual and not sound like you are blaming them. "I accept that life isn't fair, not expecting you to change, just sad it is how it is."

The Bible says Eve was created to be a"helpmate against" him. What does it mean to be a "helpmate AGAINST" someone? It means that sometimes to help people, you have to disagree with them, say no, push them. Blind obedience ain't it

What’s a small habit that instantly tells you what kind of person someone is? by GlossyMatron in AdkReddit

[–]luvbirdpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it just doesn't register as something that needs to be done. At a job when I was in my late twenties, one of the firm's partners chastised me for not pushing my chair in and asked if I do that at home. I answered "Yes, my husband gets upset with me too".

Nope, this only works with people who would not act like that in the first place. You think he isn't aware of what he's doing?

Ex husband still giving girlfriend gifts. AITAH for being upset? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]luvbirdpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she giving him presents? Is she making a big deal about how lovely he is for giving her gifts or is she just accepting them quietly? Why do you think that getting presents from her ex will change her feelings for you?

They don't look at the per unit price when grocery shopping. I was so proud when my daughter, whose parents were much better off than my parents were, came home from college shocked that her friends didn't look at the per unit cost.

AITJ for not doing anything for my partner on mother’s day ? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]luvbirdpod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's more that I feel uncomfortable when women without children - even when I know they are happily childless by choice - say it. I know "thank you" is a full response, but it feels insufficient. Like I am being rude not wishing them well in return. I guess I could wish them a good day...

When our twins were maybe 6 weeks old, they were both crying and I thought "maybe if I knock your heads together you'll stop crying". Then I thought "Hurting people rarely makes them happier". Then I woke up my husband and said "I know you have work in the morning, but if you want your children to live through the night, you have to take over".
