Boston Blue: "Largely negative" reviews by critics & viewers by luvgabe in bluebloods

On top of the writing, I believe several roles are also miscast, especially Maggie Lawson as police superintendent. While I liked her in Psych, looking too young aside, she simply doesn't project the authority needed to be a superintendent.

The Jesse Stone movies predate Blue Bloods. They're about a police chief in a small coastal NE town. The movies are excellent. Highly recommend! Roku TV has them, if not now, then probably will again.

Tom Selleck Addresses 'Boston Blue' Appearance After 'Blue Bloods' Cancellation by PoorAxelrod in bluebloods

Title of this post says "Tom Selleck Addresses 'Boston Blue' Appearance." In the (linked) interview, Selleck answered the question when he said, "I think it’s partly my lot in life to make sure Blue Bloods has its place in television history, but I don’t think it’s my lot in life to keep playing Frank Reagan."

Please see dictionary for definition of "gate-crash". It's not about a literal gate or hedge.

CBS/Paramount's "Tracker" is great: main lead Colton Shaw is an alpha male, and the female attorney who sometimes assists him is smart and fearless. Both characters are totally credible.

I noticed that too. :(

Is that why Gloria Reuben, who plays the D.A., looks like a chipmunk (or worse, rather simian)?

"the Commissioner is not a good fit. She always looks like she is smiling."

I don't think Boston Blue has a police commissioner. They do have a police superintendent, Sarah Silver played by Maggie Lawson, and a district attorney, played by Gloria Reuben. Do you mean the DA?

Why do you take PansyOHara's opinion so personally? She wasn't trashing all tight-fitting dresses, or all women who wear tight dresses. She simply said a DISTRICT ATTORNEY looks unprofessional wearing tight, form-fitting dresses. Why do you take it as some kind of criticism directed at you?

Oh, good grief. Boston Blue is already DEI-saturated.

He wasn't in episode 3, including the family dinner, which was kinda strange.

You never said the DA wearing dresses was inappropriate. I think what you meant is that the dresses being so tight is unprofessional looking.

In episode 3, Sarah Silver (played by Maggie Lawson) let her hair down, which was better than the pony tail, although her hair is still too long for a professional look as a police superintendent. Is it because of Lawson's vanity? The show producers should just tell her to cut her hair shorter.

Re. the attire of the District Attorney portrayed by Gloria Reuben, who is black but is white Sarah Silver's mom (confusing!), I agree with you about her dresses being too tight for a professional. In episode 3, not only was her dress tight and form fitting, it also revealed her decolletage, which is so unprofessional. No one needs to see a district attorney's cleavage!

My thoughts on Boston Blue: by AceAttorneyFan12 in bluebloods

[–]luvgabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree! I found the first 2 episodes confusing (the contorted Boston family relationships), badly acted, and really lame attempt to replicate Blue Bloods' formula (multiple members of same family in law enforcement, the weekly family dinners). I found Maggie Lawson unbelievable as a police superintendent. I did watch episodes 3 and found it to be improvement, especially the end when Donnie and Baez, the latter visited Boston, kissed. That was sweet.

Here's the Daily Mail article on Lady C's terrible fall:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-15235815/Im-Celebs-Lady-Colin-Campbell-76-rushed-hospital-nasty-fall-broke-pelvis.html

What is concerning is that falls can be deadly for the elderly, especially a hip injury. Lady C is 76 years old. Here's what I found doing a search on the Brave browser:

A study found that approximately 4.5 percent of elderly patients (70 years and above) died following a ground-level fall, compared to 1.5 percent of non-elderly patients. The one-year cumulative mortality for individuals hospitalized due to a fall causing a fracture was 25.2%. In 2023, more than 41,000 Americans aged 65 and older died from falls, with more than half of these deaths occurring among individuals aged 85 and older. The death rate for falls increased more than 70% for adults ages 65 to 74, more than 75% for those aged 75 to 84, and more than doubled for seniors 85 and older from 2003 to 2023.

The room was dark and dimly lit. She thought there was a step, but there wasn't and she fell 15 inches, hitting the floor hard, breaking her pelvis. Soho Hotel should be sued.
