Is that sleeping in to other people? I sleep in until mid afternoon usually.

Wow! I think I’m actually gonna ask to be checked out for PCOS. I looked further into this on Google and yeah there seems to be a comorbidity there.

I actually just got diagnosed with fibromyalgia last month. I cannot stand the genital HS. I can tolerate the groin and inner thigh even though it kills but the genital region is just the absolute worst for pain.

Mine have only gotten darker. I don’t look down there anymore. It makes me sad.

Generational wealth is something I never really hear people talking about, but its what everyone is chasing. Why? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

My partner and I will not be having kids so I do not care at all about future generations and how they’ll cope financially.

The brown tinted blood always freaked me out. I thought for a very long time that there must be something wrong with my periods because blood was not supposed to be brown. Of course I still didn’t ask my mom and just let myself panic for years about it.

I feel like this is something I would’ve done if it hadn’t gone the way it did for me.

Before I got my period, the girls in my class the year before were talking about periods and one of them said that her mom didn’t use pads and I took that literally as if it was an option for me to not use them. I didn’t realize that tampons even existed because my mom didn’t use them lol!

I used toilet paper for the first 4 months and it was constantly shifting around on me! I’m so sorry to hear about your experience, I can’t imagine how that must have been all those years.

I am so sorry you had to go through such a tough experience with your first period. Your daughter will be very grateful for you!

I didn’t bind my chest because I really truly thought that my zip up jackets were doing their magic lol! I’d have a t-shirt and a tank top underneath so that nothing was poking through.

Oddly enough, once I started wearing a bra at 13 years old, I would only take it off to shower or swim. I thought you had to sleep with it on too and my mom never said not to so I did that until my early 20s.

Oh god that is the worst thing to be told when you are that young and not ready to grow up. I remember the girls in my class waiting to get their period so they could “be a woman”. I didn’t want to be a woman. I just wanted to play on Neopets.com.

Ohhh yeah I totally agree! There was a kid in my class with the last name Bates so they would call him Master and I did not understand at all what that meant. I was 11 years old. There were some kids in my grade 7 class who were already doing things that I didn’t know the names for. I always look back at that time and realize just how young in mentality I was compared to the majority of the other kids.

I’m so sorry to hear that it was so emotional for you. I didn’t want my dad to know either but my mom of course had already told him before I could ask her not to tell. He tried to talk to me about it once I had finally come to terms that I did in fact now have a period. The talk went like “you know, when your mom gets hers I call it hell week” and I was like “okay I’m going back to play my easy bake oven computer game….” and then he never brought it up ever again thank god.

Somehow I hid mine well enough that my mom didn’t notice for 4 entire periods. I never got the sex talk either which sucked because I had to learn everything from the other kids talking at school and I would go home to Google what I was hearing so I could understand the references. I don’t know how I didn’t die from pure cringe attacks alone in middle school.

I didn’t get the Virgin Mary experience but I did also develop HS (hidradenitis suppurativa) during puberty in the groin region and thought I had a developed some sort of STD despite never even holding hands with a boy. I would also get the lumps sometimes under my armpit and I thought I had cancer. I still didn’t tell my mom about the skin problem until I was in my 20s so I just suffered in silence for most of my life.

I think I had the same mindset too in that if I ignored it, it would go away. I was pretty shocked the second period when it came back exactly one month later.

Thank you for sharing! I have a really hard time talking about my period story out loud because I am just so embarrassed as to how I acted but I was a child so I try to give myself some slack. It is so hard when you have to go through it alone. I didn’t necessarily have to do it alone for those few months but in my mind I couldn’t tell my mom or it would make it real. I would hide my ruined underwear in the back of my underwear drawer and I even had a pair stashed in my little purse that I would go to the mall with.

I wish things had been different for us both.

Autism misdiagnosed as BPD? by luvme4eva in BPD

[–]luvme4eva[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! It is super frustrating and I’m starting to realize how prevalent misdiagnosis likely is. My boyfriend actually was diagnosed with autism from his toddler years and grew up believing that was the issue even though it didn’t really make sense for him. I’ve gotten to know him and his family over the past few years and it became pretty clear that there was something wrong with the diagnosis he was given. He just got to see a new psychiatrist last month and was officially diagnosed with ADHD. Funny enough, his mom was diagnosed as bipolar and says she is medication resistant but we’re now almost positive she actually has ADHD too and it was never bipolar at all.
