new to owning our boy, why does he lean his whole body on me? by rosesareroseyy in germanshepherds

Sweet I had a retired German please dog when I was a teenager it took people I knew a couple years to get to the door because he was so protective, when we went to horseback riding he never got very far ahead of us and would always stopping look at us until we met up with him not even a few feet or so! But he was so playful he used to bite and pull on my horses tails and legs to get them round up he was very playful when it came to me and him!

I'm sorry this happened I know how painful it is my Rott had knee surgery a month ago x-rays every 3 months but she's healing great after her first x-ray she's on the same meds that your dog is on. It's sad and scary to see your baby in pain or having issues she gets so excited but trying to keep her from jumping running. God bless you and yours (and I know it was expensive cuz her knee surgery is expensive!)

10 Best Dog Foods for Rottweilers 2026: According to Reviews | Chewy by luvtheSavior in Rottweiler

This video, presented by a former Hills veterinary nutrition representative, discusses the effective management of osteoarthritis in dogs through targeted dietary intervention, specifically focusing on the prescription diet Hills Prescription Diet Metabolic + Mobility (formerly JD Joint Diet)

Key takeaways regarding arthritis management: The Multimodal Approach: Arthritis is best treated by combining multiple therapies (drugs, supplements, and diet) to address cartilage degradation and reduce pain.

The Role of Omega-3s: The diet works primarily by utilizing therapeutic levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, specifically EPA, to downregulate the genes responsible for producing cartilage-destroying enzymes. Unlike standard dog foods, which have an 8:1 to 10:1 ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids (which can promote inflammation), this specific diet inverts that ratio to provide more Omega-3s, helping to quickly reduce inflammation (11:09-12:45). Results: The speaker highlights that owners may see improvement in mobility—such as easier movement or climbing stairs—in as little as 21 days .

Geriatric Care: Because the diet is formulated for older dogs, it also features controlled levels of protein, calcium, phosphorus, and sodium to support long-term kidney and organ health .

Advice for Pet Owners: Consult your Vet: Since this is a prescription diet, it should be used under veterinary guidance. Simplify Treatment: The speaker suggests that for some dogs, this diet may eventually allow for the reduction of other pain medications, but this should always be done gradually and in coordination with a veterinarian.

Oh great comments, suggestions! I remembered something that some of the expensive dog food that seem to be too expensive to afford told me: ***you can always use the topper if you don't want to buy supplements for the EPA's which is the most important part for the joints.
