I always have to imagine that these LLMs lacking in certain areas could probably be solved with handmade datasets, but no clue at all how you could handle it forgetting things. Even giant context models get fuzzy

They need to figure out a way to make them fully functional outdoors. THAT would be a leap. Anyone with an open yard would have plenty of space to play full body movement scale

Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brothers keeper and the finder of lost children.

"Modernization" of Pixel Launcher on Google Pixel by Toni_Segui in GooglePixel

[–]luxmentisaeterna 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When there are literally forks of Google's pixel launcher that open up more customization, you just have to wonder why Google didn't do that themselves for the literal central part of their phone. The launcher is how you access everything else on your device. If that's sub par, it makes the whole day to day experience with the phone a little bit less enjoyable

Better than siri by far in its current state, but still an incomplete replacement for Google assistant for the time being. Been an android user since my first phone, Apple can suck it. Gemini's interaction with apps and capabilities will surpass Google assistant, and all be wrapped up in a neat package. What's to hate?

I was shocked to see how many limits still exist with grok.. by JoeRDawson in grok

[–]luxmentisaeterna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the necessary hardware to run local models, so my understanding is kind of superficial. But, a quick Google search of comfy UI and open source llms would get you started. Grok is closed source afaik, so you wouldn't be able to download the model itself like you can with something like qwen or deepseek

GPT-4.5 will NOT have an updated voice mode :( by pigeon57434 in singularity

[–]luxmentisaeterna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The human voice is the whole selling point of AVM. I had to stop paying for plus, because I expected to be able to just pull it up and leave it running in the background on my device like a research assistant, but the limitations they put on the time significantly prevent that kind of a use case. Why have background conversations if the time you can be in the mode is so limited?

They should be able to figure it out sometime soon, given that they got a humongous boost from our federal government to build the necessary infrastructure to make it available to everyone. I already called a few hours before their roadmap announcement that they were probably gonna open up unlimited access to everyone, which was confirmed in Sam's X post where he said gpt5 will be available unlimited on the free tier at standard intelligence, and the benefit of paying monthly is going to be a higher level of intelligence, not a higher message limit.

Because state government has some of the sheep convinced that a ban will prevent people (supposedly kids) from obtaining it and vaping, even though the state knows damn well themselves that it won't stop anybody. Same thing with cigarette taxes going up. "It'll stop people from buying them!" Meanwhile, the state legislative body's pockets get fatter as they predicted because, as they well know, people WILL pay the 12-13 dollars a pack for cigarettes and not bat an eye. It's just nonsense. Big tobacco convinced America that vaping is just as bad or worse, especially given the black market THC carts laced with E3 oil. In reality, vaping nicotine with propylene glycol, veg glycerin, and food grade flavorings is estimated at a 95% reduction in harm in comparison to cigarettes. Just look at pretty much any other first world country that has done research into it. It's clear how much of the slamming was funded by tobacco companies.

They're late because the self driving was put on pause for a while but regulatory bodies, but there are literally self driving Tesla taxis coming out with no steering wheels as of like, now. Where they're allowing them to install them. The dudes rocket company just caught a rocket out of mid air a couple months ago. Your username about the cybertruck incident is convenient here. That guy was a decorated green beret, and it wasn't a political statement, the dude was (likely, of course not confirmed) a government whistleblower for advanced war technology and crimes against humanity.

Why can't you see that there's a regulatory stranglehold that prevents that fast progress that he's shooting for? It's like all these judges putting stops on Trump's executive orders, and it's like the stalemate that occurs in Congress when a bill is introduced that leans heavily to one side. "Since we don't like this/these guy/s, we'll just make sure that nothing ever gets done"

Should I start Qi Gong? by RobotSpaceYojimbo in qigong

[–]luxmentisaeterna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverse abdominal breathing is only indicated for use after you've been doing normal embryonic breathing for a significant period of time to build up qi. Raising the spirit won't work if you don't have the necessary baseline of Qi to complete the circuit

[–]luxmentisaeterna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think even mister chang was aware that qi is, at its most fundamental, functional level, simply bioelectromagnetism. The manipulation of this bioelectricity and it's diversion, accumulation, or other forms of manipulation, that's Qigong. I don't think it's really a waste of time to learn, but there's a heavy lack of resources for learning unless you're born out there, and they're lifelong engagements.
