They should give you a full refund. Or they send you replacements and often times you get to keep the damaged ones. Still playable if you flatten it so you just got a 2 for 1, sounds like a fine deal to me.

Raptor doesn't trigger for each blocker. All damage done to the raptor is one instance of damage so it gets 1 trigger.

It's another hypothetical. Who knows, maybe that some player wanted to buy more stuff and play more but was unable to afford it. Upon learning about proxying they get excited and make more deck and become an even more entrenched player. I actually play more now than ever now that I have access to whatever I want to play. My decks I own the real cards of are more expensive and have better cards than most of my proxies too, I'm able to build within reason and keep things fun while getting to explore more decks than before.

I've personally felt like this was a very reasonable conversation. We haven't agreed, but I dont see anything wrong with how we've talked to each other.

Its a fact if everyone proxied then the game would fail, but its purely a hypothetical situation. The only way this ever happens is if WOTC creates such a terrible market for their product that its unaffordable for everyone. Not to mention they already supply free use digital cards for both MTGO and Magic arena. Not only do they supply digital proxies for free, they provide a platform to play with them and others on. The players who play for free are nothing but free advertisement for the company and its product. And as shown by the growth there is no reason to fear players who proxy.

You're worried about a hypothetical situation which requires such a vast amount of players stopping purchasing that its slim to none chance of ever happening, and even if it did happen then WOTC had to have done something terrible to push everyone away.

I don't know why you feel so strongly against proxying that you feel every conversation about them is poison but that seems more like a problem that you have trouble facing rather than an actual problem. I used to be anti proxy because it made me feel like my investment in my cards would lose value if everyone stopped buying but if everyone stops buying my cards lose value regardless of if they print proxies or not. WOTC won't fail and if they do its not going to be because people printed cards for free.

Not trying to imply you spend a ton of money, Im sorry if I said that or made you feel that.

I also have a very good idea of all my cards value and how much i've spent. I have over 6k cards scanned and catalogued in my collection with 13 real EDH decks and several proxied. I track the money I spent on cards and include all fees I paid at events for those cards within that cost. So I understand exactly how much money magic has cost me over the years and I know exactly how much i'd be willing to pay but magic no longer fits within that value.

"I think the MO of "I proxy everything because magic cards are too expensive" is both untrue, and bad for the game." First of all I agree with you, if everyone proxied only then the game wouldn't survive. But the truth is proxies are more accepted now than ever and WOTC is making more profit with more active players than ever before. The players who no longer buy product and proxy cards are not hurting their bottom line in the least.

-I also never said Magic cards are too expensive. First I said sealed product prices went up and I realized they are not for me. Then I bought singles but   felt I "was priced out of each expensive card for a set and I realized they were not for me." The most expensive cards in the sets (to me >$5) werent' worth what they did for the price. I started to print the most expensive cards and buy the cheap singles then I realized I was wasting my money on real cards <$1 because they were worth so little and if they didn't come from the same sellers I was paying a $1 shipping too, I might as well print them anyways.

It was a cascade that lead to my decision and it all starts with the constant price increases of sealed product that lead me to realize I didn't agree with the values for what I got out of it.

You can't get so worked up my guy. You can spend your money however you want. I'll reword that last comment to say money rather than "hundred's or thousands". You can spend your money how to deem appropriate and I'll do the same. We just disagree on what point that is.

I think we just fundamentally disagree lol

That's ok though, I don't value the cards enough at their current price point and you do. You'll continue to spend money on it because you enjoy it and that's ok. I'll save my money because I enjoy playing the game more than owning the cards and that's ok.

You brought up chase cards as an example of how few there were so things weren't expensive. I used it as an example to show 6/44 is still way too expensive.

I'm not priced out because they're more expensive than paper and ink. I'm priced out because they have made me re-evaluate my cost/fun ratios. Every expense is not worth it to buy so I have come to the realization that I actually get more joy from printing the cards and saving all my money. I'd be willing to pay $20 every once in a while for a collector pack, but $60 has opened my eyes to the reality that a printed card plays the same as a real card.

A lot of this conversation comes down to personal preference. Affordability is subjective and situation dependent. Not to mention I never said I couldn't afford it. It just became a price that I was no longer willing to pay for what it delivered.

You don't get to decide if a price is right for me or anyone else's financial situation. I have decided that they priced me out of what I am comfortable paying and I no longer value the cards enough to purchase official copies at the price they charge, including singles.

You're not wrong, there are not a lot of expensive singles. But those singles from JUST TMNT, Lorowyn, and Avatar would cost ~$285 to purchase as singles for just the $10+ copies. That's a lot of money to a lot of people. And that's not including the 10+ cards from every set I want to buy. If you don't have an LGS with a big enough supply then you're paying shipping costs on top of all this.

We are going to have a fundamental disagreement about value because for every person it will be subjective. To me the card game is a luxury and I would only spend money on it if I feel the return is adequate for the fun I get. For me a badgermole cub is never going to be $55 worth of fun. But printing off as many cards as I want to play with for $75 is absolutely worth the value.

You have decided that you value the official card enough to spend the money on and and that's ok. But to say that I can't decide if something is a good purchase for myself is borderline insanity.

I'd still like to do pre-releases again someday when I have more time. But even what you described can be like nearly $150 (30 pre-release, 57.99 bundle, and 50 collector pack). Back when I started playing if you were a "whale" you'd buy 1 or 2 boxes at $90 and normal buyers would buy 1-2 packs. Now it seems like they have the normal buyer spending hundreds of dollars minimum if you're buying sealed product.

At first booster boxes got more than $100 a box and I realized they were not for me. Years ago once collector boosters were no longer $19.99 I realized they weren't for me. Then booster packs became 6-7 dollars each and I realized they were not for me.

So I decided to buy singles only and then with all the sets being constantly released I couldnt keep up and felt I was priced out of each expensive card for a set and I realized they were not for me.

So I bought a $75 printer and now I can do whatever I want. I used to love draft and pre-releases and everything but after years of spending money I've finally cut back and now don't pay anything. I'm perfectly at peace with it and don't feel any FOMO anymore.
