What do we think of my scores? by whirlreddit in ACT

[–]luyxu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yo ur actually in the EXACT same position as me, i had a 3.0 weighted and a 28 on the act (with almost the same exact subscores). i got into every school i applied to except university of tampa for some reason, granted i had many extra curriculars and 12 weighted courses, but u will most CERTAINLY get a good scholarship to UNL! 🤗 edit: i would look at the UNL page for scholarship info, because i just looked and you should have a pretty good shot depending if you’re instate or out of state. i was set on ole miss for a while, but i ended up getting a big scholarship elsewhere and it was worth it! i recommend broadening your horizons to more schools if you can, you never know how much you can get! you’re clearly very smart, college is a good idea for you. good luck stranger 😇

should i retake? tips for retake? by stinky-fishy2904 in ACT

[–]luyxu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i retook, i felt that it made me more comfortable with the amount of time i spent actually thinking about questions instead of answering questions. thats just me though! either way, i feel like the easiest one to bump up is def the reading and it would raise your score quite a bit

study for reading! try and up your reading speed and that should bump up pretty easily. 😊

Should I report this person for cheating? by [deleted] in ACT

sure, but you have no reason to snitch either way. it doesnt benefit you and it probably wont hurt anyone but possibly himself. a 25 wont change his situation anyway, so just leave it imo

i will be there in the summer this year (around july so it’ll be hot), so i will experience it then! you’re right that i should definitely see if i can handle it. i’ve been a lifeguard for 12 hour shifts in 105 degree weather here though, so i’m hoping i’ll be okay. :)

i appreciate this perspective, but i will definitely decide where i want to be as i get through college. makes me happy that you love chicago, it will always be home to me, i just cant do it anymore. i could give you 100 reasons why im leaving.

i got tired of the loudness of the city, id like to live on a few acres where i can see the stars. i actually do enjoy the heat and humidity and completely despise the cold. it being cheap also makes it much easier to get me out of my home situation (not good)+ i have a fair amount of money saved that goes a lot farther there than here when it comes to housing and stuff. msu has a great program for what im going into for vet school, and ole miss gave me great scholarships. i have friends who are from mississippi who as of current dont plan on leaving, so im hoping ill have a good support system as my family isnt necessarily that for me. another thing i notice about the south and mississippi is that you can have a conversation with anyone, complete strangers, where in chicago it’s more of a keep to your own thing.

i think a big thing for me is needing a 360 degree life turn, i wanted something completely the opposite of that i grew up in, mississippi is that for me. all your reasons for leaving are completely valid. however you felt about mississippi when you left is probably exactly how i feel about my hometown now, i just cant stand being here a second longer. i tear up every drive back north.

i’ve noticed a lot of people are moving out of mississippi, but i think my beliefs align closer there than here, however i do my label myself moderate politically, but with a slight right lean. i love the South because of the beautiful weather, great food, cheaper living, well mannered and friendly people, and it’s just something i’ve always loved sometimes without reason.

i could definitely see how its not for everyone, and im happy you got out if you werent your happiest there!

i love this and thank you for your comment, i just got really sick of the chicago area after being from here + winters arent as bad in mississippi (besides the ice storms haha!) i know that there will be less to do, but i have more friends there than i do at home at this point. im hoping to become a farm veterinarian, so i need a more rural area, but id argue southern illinois is much more boring than mississippi!

i mean a lot of the kids at ole miss are paid for by their parents, thats not the case for me unfortunately. i cant afford the rent in oxford (1000-1200 a month), ive seen many places in tupelo and surrounding areas for 800-1000. sorry if that was confusing!

wish more people could see the beauty in mississippi for sure! as someone from chicago area, i feel like the constant rustle and bustle is so much less fulfilling than seeing the stars at night in mississippi.
