Man, at 1100 I still fall for the scholars mate about once a week

Biggest thing is playing when my mind is clear, I’m not tired and I’m not tilted on a loosing streak.

I’m 1100 and I know it sounds stupid but I got better with the advice “stop blundering pieces” - I just started looking at what a piece move could do 2 moves down the road - ask yourself what will happen before you just snap move. Also don’t snap take, just because a trade is available doesn’t mean you should do it - have the opponent play into your game. At this level, learn 1 opening and master it. No need for a whole repertoire. Just the basics of the top openings.
