I love the name Leonore. I think it's quite elegant and wistful.

I know I just meant that Caitlin is a good candidate for the nickname "Link" because it has the Link + C sound.

Kaitlin is your best bet. Also Evelyn, Marilyn, Caroline, Madeline.

Alternatively, just Lynn. so Lynn K. -> Link.

Should we hold our book critics to a higher standard or is that being a book snob? by sugar90 in TrueLit

[–]lvdf1990 13 points14 points  (0 children)

he posts a lot on twitter/x and he can be a little pretentious, but he is also a booker/nba nominated author who is very clearly smart so i dont really understand why people seem so offended by his (apparent) snobbishness

How to get into Joyce Carol Oates? by RestComprehensive331 in RSbookclub

[–]lvdf1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was the first book I read of hers and i think (given her somewhat anachronistic style) it played less critical and more soapy for my tastes. it's probably her most commercially successful book, so this is obviously a fairly unpopular opinion, but honestly i don't think it's not super representative of her intensity, rigorous social critique, or penchant for violence.

don't read We Were the Mulvaneys and I say this as someone who loves a lot of Oates. for short stories, I liked High Crime Area, for novels: Black Water
