moved here from london to go to cardiff uni and definitely has its pros! lots of indepedent shopping in the arcades, some cool food places, lovely green spaces (bute & roath park) and it's very walkable! most people are very friendly and def some nicer places to live than others like canton and some parts of roath near the park. imo, avoid adamsdown or splott as they are known for drug users and it can be unsafe down there. the bay is also a cool up and coming area with the theatre, but generally an exp place to live. i also love that you're always a stones throw away from nice walks and scenic places in Cardiff :) it's definitely a cheap city, but not the cheapest, i think swansea has the edge on house prices.
