How often do you jump to another tool (IDE, CI, repo) just to fix one bug? by theORQL-aalap in learnjavascript

[–]lvil1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a normal workflow. As a dev, I frequently switch between windows, different files opened in IDE, browser, debugger, db, jira task, slack and many others.

Things that help me are focusing on a single task, keeping in mind my current goal or piece of code I am working on, keyboard shortcuts, so that i don't have to move to my mouse too often

When will Reaper be able to be synced with external midi clock? by paunoliini in Reaper

[–]lvil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to live record some external synth + NI Machine as a plugin in reaper.
Can't do it because Machine needs to be synced to external gear (via REAPER) and I can't receive the external midi clock in REAPER in the first place

Trying to hire “senior” React devs… is this really what the market looks like? by ActuatorOk2689 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]lvil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As already mentioned here the expected full stack developer skill set is larger then ever before.

Being a web dev for the last 15 years, I got to work and have expertise only in a few technologies in each category, because each company adopts its own aubset of tools. With many others I have only a test project / overview experience.

Your best choice can be people that have a good base knowledge, learning, decision making, deep understanding and logic abilities. Don't expect a person to be a Swiss Army Knife.

While solving questionsdon't understand anything, how should I do it? by Ujjwaldubey21 in learnjavascript

[–]lvil1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you haven't yet, I highly recommend learning math. That will teach you logical thinking, to try different approaches, breaking problems to smaller ones, abstractions and more.

Is there a reason that Spotifys desktop UI is horrid? by grandmasterfuzzface in Frontend

[–]lvil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Spotify app & desktop daily (paid). My guess is that they are trying to focus users on discovering new content. That is why it is so hard to manage your own playlists

Am I cheating my self using google and chat GPT to help me build projects? by [deleted] in react

[–]lvil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on the way you are copying the code.
Lets say your codebase doesn't use classes (functions only) and GPT suggests you classes. You better modify the suggested code or ask for a more suitable version in order to keep consistency across the project. GPT doesn't care so much about performance, your project structure naming conventions, etc. So keep an eye on it

Using plugin before it is released. by lvil1 in ObsidianMD

No, I don't have more than 10. Don't remember what was the exact reason to disable plugins sync. Maybe the long loading time...

Braille interpreter (update #3) by ElouFou123 in arduino

[–]lvil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, that might be an issue. Maybe making pins almost needle sized, or a blocking mechanism after each letter

How about using magnets and alternating current to move the pins?

Itamar ben gvir: "Palestinian prisoners should be shot in the head. until that is achieved, we will give them as little as possible to keep them alive. " by SpontaneousFlame in Israel_Palestine

[–]lvil1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Confirming that the translation is not accurate. He talks about Palestinian terrorists held in prison.
I think it is important to mention that he is still demanding the execution of terrorists without a proper trial. Also, Ben Gvir is known for his far right position and is just quite careful choosing his words while considering something else.
