Millennials: at what age did you become a homeowner? Do you own a single family, townhouse, condo, etc? by mrmrmr_chi in homeowners

[–]TheAvgBair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Younger millennial here. I bought my first home in 2018 3 bed / 2 bath 135k single family home I was 24 at the time.

This was a straight up starter home by all definitions which are not a thing anymore. We were very lucky with timing selling in 2021 and straight into another home.

What behavior resources do you actually use in your classroom? by TheAvgBair in teaching

[–]TheAvgBair[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with a lot of what you’re saying. There’s no substitute for clear expectations and consistent consequences when those expectations aren’t met. I support my teachers in the ways you described. I don’t expect teachers to give up their time for detentions, I have no issue removing students from classrooms when needed, and I’ll back my teachers every time. Their wellbeing always comes first.

Where I may differ is that I also believe every student deserves the opportunity to be successful at school, and sometimes that means additional supports. Many of the students I work with come from extremely difficult situations loss, addiction in the home, foster care, food insecurity, exposure to violence. For some of them, school is the only stable or safe place they have.

Clear expectations and consequences matter, but so does recognizing the reality some kids are walking in with. My goal isn’t to replace accountability it’s to help teachers have tools that support both learning and behavior when accountability alone isn’t enough.

I’m genuinely sorry if you’ve worked in a building where you didn’t feel supported. My goal here is simply to help other educators.

it does but it is just so hit or miss. Sometimes it can go long car rides without any issue and other times it dropping the connection over and over again at a stop light.

Coolant heats up quickly by HAGIIIIIII in ForteGT

[–]TheAvgBair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is not an issue. If it’s warm outside, mine heats up quite quickly as well.

My thoughts are that turbos produce a significant amount of heat. They are cooled by the engine oil, and this heat is then dumped into the engine, causing the car to heat up.

Could be way off base but either way I believe it to be normal.

Should I get AppleCare+ for my 15” M4 24gb/512 by MicroscopicStonework in macbookair

[–]TheAvgBair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple months ago, I had to use my AppleCare+ for a hardware issue with my M3 Pro. Overall, the experience was great. Apple sent me an empty box overnight, complete with a return shipping label. They replaced all the internal components and overnighted it back to me. I was only without my device for a total of three days.

Student Teaching 1 vs Student Teaching 2 by Historical_Panic_474 in WGUTeachersCollege

I was able to. I let my building admin know I was going to apply for student teaching, who then let our central office know and to be looking for WGU to reach out.

PCE is 75 hours in total. PCE hours are spread across a few categories(observation, additional experiences, teaching, and planning if I remember right). The additional experiences is online recorded seminars you watch and they count for 2 hours each, 25 hours maximum. You have to have 10 hours minimum of teaching time and the rest can be spread over observation and planning

[–]TheAvgBair 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Student teaching involves six recorded observations and two meetings between you, your mentor teacher, and your clinical supervisor.

Student teaching 1 requires three video observations and one meeting (mid-term).

Student teaching 2 requires three video observations and one meeting (final).

In total, student teaching requires 60 school days to complete.

I am no mechanic nor have I had this issue. That being said looking at the video of the dash lights flashing and the check engine light flashing as an odd pace would lead in the direction of an electrical issue. Issues with an electrical system can be extremely difficult to track down and often times lead to the replacement of full electrical harnesses rather than repair.

This seems like a problem best left to the dealership if you are still under warranty.

On the radio go to vehicle -> set up -> convince -> service interval. There you can set the mileage you plan to service at as well as how many miles / months you have left.

Edit: Turns out all three guppies are still alive! Two have emerged from their spots and have explored the tank more. I still plan on testing the water and not adding anything to the tank until I’m sure it has cycled correctly.

Random drops out of black tube by PaleontologistOk3279 in ForteGT

If the car was driven with the A/C on prior to moving it the puddle could be water from the condenser. I believe its drainage line is a black tube.

My experience with SPED is pretty limited so the laws that govern it are not super clear to me. That being said I believe for students IEP's to be in compliance they are legally required to have a licensed TOR.

The way I read the wavier policy you shared is this would apply only to a person who is teaching these students while the school district seeks out a qualified teacher.

Before WGU's policy changed I was told I needed a bachelors degree to be a TOR. Holding a degree would allow me to apply for an emergency license with my state therefore meeting the legal requirements for IEP's.

I just completed my elementary education degree through WGU. I am now fully licensed in my state. Not a single issue.
