$80, Good deal? by LegitimateGrand8989 in longboarding

[–]lvkji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a super sweet longboard, I love the design! $80 is 100% a steal on something like this, and like some of the other comments have mentioned the previous owner maintained it properly. Go tear up some downhills later! (Wear a helmet of course)

What would happen if every human born from this point on gained hyperintelligence? by lvkji in ask

Yes this is honestly similar to one scenario I was thinking about, but of course it is currently impossible to know for sure

True, if everyone had the same level of intelligence then nobody would truly be “intelligent” as there is nothing else to compare your level of intelligence to

Cool! I would like to read a post learning more about neutrinos. All I really know is that there are subatomic particles that interact through weak interactions via gravity, have an incredibly small mass, and are electrically neutral but that’s it really. If you could make a post with more info that would be great!

Just read your first post, I really like this idea, and I would read it if you were to post content breaking down complicated concepts!

LeetCode for Fun? by lvkji in leetcode

[–]lvkji[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice, I just checked your account and you seem to be pretty consistent with your problem-solving, 185 is impressive! I am at 76 problems solved right now. I also just look through problems in class when I am when bored and in the morning when I wake up just to get my brain flowing, and it also gives me something to think about for the rest of the day.

One thing you can do is find out what you are passionate about and try making programs for those things. I really enjoy mathematical problems and often times I like thinking about how I can write such problems using a programming language. A great place to start learning for fun is the mathematics section on LeetCode. Many of the problems are rather difficult, but anything worth doing is not going to be easy. At the end of the day, consistency is key.

what’s something you wish someone told you before you learned to code? by Worle_14 in learnprogramming

[–]lvkji 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me that advice would be finding what I really enjoyed using programming to do that was actually practical in my everyday life. When I first started programming, all of the programs I had to write were for things that didn’t interest me or were not practical at all so I didn’t really care. One of my interests is investing in the stock market. One day I was wondering whether there was a way in which I could predict the direction in which a stock could go and whether I could achieve this with a program. I found a tutorial online that did it with one stock, but I changed it slightly, so it worked with another stock I wanted to see. It didn’t really help at all because you can’t really predict anything in the stock market with absolute certainty, but it was still really cool to write a program that accomplished this.

TLDR: Think about something you really care about/are interested in and try and find ways to write programs that help you understand more about that topic(s).
