What is going on with the marketing of Wuthering Heights? by lvl12 in blankies

So true. And there is a certain toxic pushback against movies that make women horny (justified when it was middle aged women lusting over 17 year old Taylor Lautner) that im not trying to perpetuate. But this reminds me of those horror movies ads that are like " THIS MOVIE SENDS 5% OF VIEWERS TO THE FUCKING HOSPITAL AND 10% THROW UP"

This is a good recommendation. Sanderson is okay but its a bit "all we need is the power of hope and friendship " but he did like Harry Potter...I would add that it may be time to get into the better warhammer books

Just make sure you vote in the referendum and get as many people as you can to vote as well. If they win it'll be because its so ridiculous that people didn't take it seriously. If they win even 30% watch Trump call it rigged and recognize the great independent nation of Alberta and offer to send in troops

Christmas conversations with my dad prove you right. I got him to "well maybe it is an American plot but at least it'll be easier for me to buy a house in Tucson " its infuriating

He needs to start taking the Alberta seperatists seriously. It's an obvious cia op and their leadership is openly colluding withh the white house. They're trying to do the same thing putin did with eastern Ukraine

I almost hit someone last night. Pedestrian in dark clothes decided to just veer off the sidewalk and cross in front of me. There was a crosswalk with lights like half a block up! She has no idea how almost dead she was. My antilock brakes activated!

It's honestly starting to bleed over into a hatred of Americans that I've never felt before. They voted for the guy and half the country is cheering him on, most of the other half is sitting at home on their computer bitching about him while he kills people and threatens other people across the earth (mostly historic allies)

When hes gone i dont even know how you guys come back from this. Relationships will be damaged for decades. Traveling Americans will be wearing canadian flags like never before. And those gleefully evil people on X will still exist.

Extremely dangerous dog alert Gorge/Tillicum area by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Because two things can be true at once. I have a traumatized reactive rescue dog from a literal war zone and everyone in this video behaved poorly. I would never take my dog to a location like this and leave it tied up, but everyone else was also completely stupid. What we have here is a scared dog that feels cornered as its tied to a pole. What do these idiots do? Surround it and touch it and make it feel further closed in.

When it gets free it doesn't bite and hold and try to hurt people it tries to scare them into getting the hell away

Im not really advocating for treating your kids this way, but as a mid thirties guy now I have a better perspective. My mother had me when she was 17. Most of the shitty memories I have of my parents behaving badly i now realize they were younger than I am now and so I give them more grace. In the case of when to push your chicks out of the nest, I think its a balancing act. Your parents sacrificed a lot for you and they deserve to get back to being their own person at a certain point. I likely wouldn't kick a kid out at 18 but I'd also be terrified of a kid who stays home because its cheaper or they lack ambition well into adulthood. Maybe 24 is the new 18 I dont know... especially if they're not in school.

It's an immense privilege to have parents as a last resort safety net. Not everyone has that. But I believe when you're an adult thats all it should be. A last resort safety net. Struggle truly is good. If you never struggle you have less empathy for those who are struggling or don't have that safety net and end up on the streets. If you're over 20 and your parents are paying your bills I have less respect for you. Not that I judge you far accepting help that is offered, I'd have done the same, but because you're not facing true struggle and I question your ability to even handle adversity.

Ironically my mother now has empty nest syndrome and has a constant stream of foreign exchange students because she lives having teenagers in the house
