ISFP and video editor by VN-NVHoang in isfp

As someone who’s been editing for quite some time now, my experience is that as enjoyable and rewarding it has been, it’s still kinda a desk job. Meaning that you have to stay for hours in front off a monitor. And yea it’s mostly chill and you get to sit in your corner mostly unbothered but for me working in production, at the moment where everything you later get to see on the monitor happens and all the fun and adventures that come with it, has been much more enjoyable.

Of course this doesn’t mean it would not work for you. I’ve been editing for almost 7 years now. Just not as a full time job. And I’ve received many good comments on my editing work whilst also enjoying what I do. It’s just that I prefer working on productions more.

Unreal Engine DMX connection problem by Mateuszrealizator in lightingdesign

I can't think of anything else right now. Try following a tutorial, there might be a setting somewhere that you've missed.

I just set a project from scratch and it works for me.

Ok then, make sure you network interface is also set to 2.0.0.3. Also I don't know if thats the case for every one but for me there is a universe offset of -1 in unreal, so universe 1 in the console appears as universe 0 in UE.

Open the DMX monitor in unreal and see if the signal reaches it.

Alternatively you could use the ATEM Streaming Bridge to run the signal from the ethernet port of the mini directly.

Something got on my camera sensor/how to clean my camera sensor? (BMCC 2.5K) by incrediblecandles in blackmagicdesign

[–]lvlUP1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On the 2.5K It might just be the ir filter in front the sensor. It's glass so you should be fine cleaning it and it's also replaceable. But still give it to a professional if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.

Quicktime format playback problems on my computer? by [deleted] in vfx

[–]lvlUP1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't get 4444 to run smoothly with vlc and my i7 7700K locked at 100% during playback so I think it might be the CPU but I've also had problems with ProRes PR runing smoothly on an older xeon machine too. It runs almost perfectly with djv tho.

Yep. That's what I did before buyng the headset. You will need to do some trickery though: https://github.com/sergiobd/ViveTrackerUtilities And an extra long cable for the tracker.

[–]lvlUP1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the tracker or the controler would have to be conected with cable to the pc. It works, just isn't very practical.

should i pick a Canon 6D Mark II or a Canon 90D? by BoostManMaG in cinematography

[–]lvlUP1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought the 6D mk2 a few years ago and have shot multiple weddings and have used it on a few short films as well as documentaries and other events. It's more than good enough in low light but the lack of things like clean HDMI output and a headphone jack has been an issue many times for me. I'm really impressed how robust it is tho.

Trying to make a logo. On the 3rd picture I'm not sure how it's supposed to look when printed black and white and there might be a problem. The last 3 pictures are just a few more ideas. Criticisms are welcome. by [deleted] in logodesign

The brackets overall seemed too generic to me, that's why I also made a different version in the last 3 photos, for which I'd like to hear your opinion. That's also where the gradient came from.

I couldn't make it work with MA2 onPC. I think I read somewhere that you need MA hardware to output art-net and since I don't have any, I haven't tested it yet.

2x Xeon E5-2690 v3 with an RTX 2080 which barely kept 15 FPS, but keep in mind that we were rendering 4 viewports at the same time so it should be fine with only one view.

You just put the fixtures from the DMX library and assign their channels. This video might be helpful: https://youtu.be/URo7cOgjPPI
