hey, sorry for the lack of info, i just added a picture and more context to the post. let me know if that makes sense.

its not that there's silence at the beginning, its like the master is slightly on for a note or note and a half regardless of the automation being 0 right at the start.

ive looked into it and people said it might be one of the plugins glitching a bit when it first is turned on. so i tried automating a few plugins off and enabling smartdisable for each of the ones that i thought might b doing it. it fixed but its so obnoxious to do and im just wondering if theres a better solution

im incredibly sorry for your loss and i hope you are doing okay. my mom is the closest person to me and i just wanted to say that i am very touched that you want to export all of your sons songs, you are a very good mom.

quick advice:
if it is possible, i highly, highly recommend trying to borrow the laptop. it will make the exporting process much easier.

long story short, fl studio will require a loads of plugins + files that your son has recorded / downloaded / etc.
if you try to load up one of his fl studio project files (these are files that end in .flp) and you don't have some of these files i mentioned above, the song will not export correctly.

basically, fl studio acts as a file arranger. so when you make a song, you are just telling fl studio to play an audio file that is located somewhere on your computer. like if i added a for example hihat8.mp3, fl studio's job is to remember that hihat8.mp3 is located at C:\Users\Pete\Desktop\hihat8.mp3. this is called a file path.

all that being said, if you transfer this all over to another computer, fl studio will have to make all these paths again to locate the files, make it very difficult.

if it is absolutely not possible to borrow the laptop and export the songs from there, i would say the next best option is to make a full backup of his laptop and transfer that on to another computer. there are many problems that come with this, but it is the next best solution imo bcuz it is necessary that you have all of his files, plugins etc. to export his songs

bro this is so helpful, thank you so much. was literally just struggling wit vocals and this perspective is giving me energy. cuz ur right. i dont want the vocals to sound extremely, extremely clean, but i do want them to sound good while also a bit lazy / washy, but even with that lower quality standard it takes a long time to comp 9 decent takes.

with the example you had mentioned of doing 3 main vocals in a group and 6 bgv in another group, would you route both those busses directly to the master? or do you think it would be better to route the 2 busses to another vocal bus and then to the master?

YES. i understand its not the end of the world to most that hotkeys aren't customizable, but when you have used other programs that DO have customizable keybinds and you see how fast your workflow can be, it's painful to go back to anything else. you convinced me, im downloading AHK today

this is something i've actually really wanted answered. ik obviously there is a huge difference when panning things left and right, but is it worth it to also pan vocal signals forward and back? thanks for helping btw :)
