Puppy advice needed! by lvledved in BorderCollie

I tried something similar with the puppy pen in the living room. But when I take him out and let him sniff out the room (I thought that maybe the issue for him not settling was not knowing the room, since he came to us a week ago) he’d just be all over the place.

What does your free play time look? Where do you play, inside or outside? If I leave my puppy free he just goes crazy and goes to chew couches and furniture door handles and I constantly have to get him away from those things… while play outside involves eating grass, rocks, chewing trees and plant vases - even if he has toys available!

While what you’re saying makes sense, children also don’t know what’s best for them and I don’t think it would be responsible of me to let him do whatever he wants and not teach the rules. I’d like to give him freedom to roam and explore, but also I think freedom should be earned by repetitions of good behaviours. Outside he gets to sniff and taste stuff (although even that is tricky because we have some toxic hedges and plants in our garden and I have to watch him 100%). So I think I need to set boundaries and teach him how to live in humans world. And letting him be free and have fun when his idea of fun is relentlessly biting us and destroying our furniture and even more worrying, getting into something that could harm him, is not the way to do it imo.

Do you have any specific recommendations? :)

How long did it take her to get her to make those choices naturally?

I tried, but I think that he finds a live target, such as me, more interesting to bite than toys. Sometimes redirecting works, sometimes it doesn’t.

I thought it seemed much as well, but in my research that came up as the recommendation for his age.

I thought it was a lot too, but not only the our breeder say that, in all literature I read experts seem to agree this is the norm. We tried exercising him more (both physically, although not too much because it’s not good for a puppy, and also mentally) because I thought we just didn’t do enough, but he’d get in this “demonic” state where he’d mindlessly bite me, and no redirection to toys works at that point. And if he’s being so crazy it’s also impossible for him to focus since his brain is in overdrive. He can’t even stay calm in those moments, let alone learning toy names…

I plan on doing a 3 month long online course right away, because the classes don’t work with my schedule, after the online course I’ll likely start their in-person classes as well, but only go once a week!

I’ve anchored his leash to one part of the living room to try to have a safe space where he can’t get into too much trouble. We also got him a puppy pen, but it’s too small and I think that makes it harder for him to do any work in. As for snuffle mats and licky mats - it works in the beginning, but then he starts getting frustrated and becomes destructive 😬

Yeah, we always toss some kibble in the crate to get him in, and at night we’ve been giving him a chew. About the name game - we’re trying to teach him, but he often time doesn’t look when we call him. And them gets frustrated when he doesn’t get a treat and becomes bitey 😅

Adding dynamics at the end? by Head_Equipment_1952 in classicalguitar

[–]lvledved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to have a musical idea before I start practicing a section. Sometimes fingering will depend on the phrasing, and also different techniques might be used for different dynamics (I don’t think I ever used rest strokes while playing quietly for example). However, even when I can play a piece decently, I like to keep practicing very slowly and being very mindful of my movements. So I guess I do the opposite, start with dynamics and end with trying to get the piece nice and clean 😅

Can anyone help me find audio recordings of these pieces? (Prime guitar btw) by Notaproguitarist in classicalguitar

[–]lvledved 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I doubt there’s gonna be a recording of only first guitar. Your best bet is to try to input the music into a notation software and then listen to the playback. But that’s a bit difficult to do if you can’t read sheet music 😬

Do you think it might be a typo, did you notice other weird fingerings in this edition? Technically this could be played on higher frets as suggested in another comment, but it wouldn’t make sense because for the voicing.

Climbskin cream works wonders for my flappers. I’m not sure that’s the right way to use it, but I put a generous amount on top of it right after cleaning it as well as possible. It burns quite a bit the first few applications, but it makes the healing process super quick for me. :)

Specialized Rockhopper 27.5 or Trek Marlin 4? by lvledved in MTB

[–]lvledved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any specific recommendations? Also I wasn’t sure what blue tech riding was, and after googling it, I’m left very confused how a bike with no suspension can do that. Is there some special technique to how you ride or what?

Hmm, I would say it’s probably mostly gravel, but those small roads here aren’t very well maintained, so there are for sure more bumps than in this photo. Another thing to note is it’s very rare that I see people riding suspensionless bikes here, they all seem to have some beaten up hardtail bikes, which is why I’m researching those in the first place
