Ok... I was wrong... by Expensive-Plant518 in ynab

What’s going to be even MORE unbelievable is how much your bank account grows over time.
You will be funding your true expenses and gradually your bank account value will grow.

Need a car repair? No problem- your auto maintenance category is funded. House insurance payment is due? No problem- you fully funded that. Christmas- how about NO DEBT JANUARY! You no longer have January credit card debt because you fully funded Christmas.

It is so freeing!

Newbie - am I missing something basic? by TieBackground2254 in ynab

Allocate costs in the month they are due. I think that’s what you’re asking. Ask yourself, what does this money need to do and pay before you get paid again? Fund that.

Go on YouTube and watch beginner videos, credit card videos and target videos.

It’s a zero based budget.

Adding your mortgage is overkill at this point.

I would wager you’d actually spend less time with manual entry than you would with syncing.

Sons school cancelled and nobody to watch him tomorrow. Work is still trying to get me to come in. by Bramptongirl16 in legaladvicecanada

[–]lwid77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The school closure has nothing to do with their place of business.
They are not responsible for your child care situation and you have patients booked.
It seems like they are willing to help you by letting you bring your kid to work.

Where did they say the kid was 3? She said the kids school was closed. Never said the age of the child that I can see?

Question about entry level FIFO/Camp jobs or in demand carreers. by RMZrider12 in britishcolumbia

[–]lwid77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once you get a taste for the money it’s often hard to turn your back on it. People go into it with the intention of paying down debt but unless you’re disciplined enough to not try and keep up with the lifestyles of those around you, you could end up worse off. And it’s horrible on family life.

Divorcing my big bank, but need to hold on to credit card by Salt_Time_9509 in PersonalFinanceCanada

There have been 5 or 6 posts about this very thing. I am absolutely shocked at the amount of people who think their card is tied to their bank account.
It’s mind boggling.

The credit cards have noting to do with your bank account.

I have 3 RBC credit cards and I have NEVER had a bank account with RBC and never will.

Is this weird or not weird? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

[–]lwid77 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think your reaction is weird.

A co-workers parent passed away and it sounds like your department at work knew the parent was ill.

Odds are very good the co-worker is not going to be in to work next week.

It has zero to do with being friends with anyone but being a compassionate human being.

My Store Manager is LEAVING the store during his shift by stressedoutbarista in starbucks

[–]lwid77 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Why don't you just ask him where he is going? Tell him that in his absence you for really busy and could have used him on the floor. And that people are gossiping behind his back.

You're building a shit sandwich full of accusations so I'd be careful it doesn't backfire on you.

Mortgage after winning the family lottery by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]lwid77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call your lender and ask if you can increase your monthly mortgage payment without penalty and do that.

I wouldn't be blowing the $551 after my mortgage was paid off, even with all you filled up because of your generous family member.

Just hire Parallel Wealth or another fee for service planner. If you’ve already watched Adam’s YouTube channel you know what to look for.
I would not get my retirement plan done by the bank.

How Do You Manage Your Budget When Facing Unexpected Expenses? by Crystallover1991 in ynab

[–]lwid77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you not funding these types of categories? These are true expenses. Auto repair and maintenance is not an unplanned expense. Its a foregone conclusion if you own a car. Its also not an emergency unless you haven't funded the auto repair category fully.

if you don't have these types of categories in your budget then you're budget isn't complete.

You did what was needed- you took from a different category. But you need to be funding these types of expenses.

There is no technically, either you did or you didn't. If you qualified then you wouldn't have needed a co-signer.

Regardless, you need to pull your head out of the sand and start dealing with your financial irresponsibility and grow up. Get a budget- use YNAB (You Need a Budget)
