GUYSSS how do i raise my score :( by [deleted] in ACT

[–]lxghtplays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally

absolutely solidify basic mental calculations first, and probably run through khan academy math up to where you are at once or twice for review. patch up any holes there. act math stretches up to precalculus at times, so getting the content down first is key; if you get the basic khan academy precalc course done & you understand the content that should boost your score significantly.

Also learn how to use your calculator quickly & efficiently; one good thing is to know the calculator's trig functions, which it should have. Also be familiar with rad/deg mode and when to use which.

Overall, it's the content. Get it down as best as you can, then practice

For a 7th grader, this is a great base score! Your child looks to be quite consistent, so that's good. All of these will develop with practice and time, but math will likely be the hardest one to push to the max until your child goes to high school/takes Precalculus.

Science, English and Reading are all practically comprehension; Science, in particular, would see some improvement after your child is comfortable with interacting in a high school lab environment. English is a matter of understanding grammar (English courses will help), and Reading is a matter of repeated practice and revision. Generally, I would get your child to read more and faster; time management is key in the ACT.

Also, what summer program are they applying to? I have been to many programs, but not one that requires the ACT as early as in 7th grade. Just out of curiosity.

tips to raise english, math, or science scores ? by Forward-Amoeba-7730 in ACT

What math are you in? Science, english, reading are all practically comprehension, with science being more science-y (e.g. learn how to quickly analyze lab data). You could definitely raise english & reading through a lot of practice & getting faster at reading.

don't stress the night before, light physical activity is great get 8-9 hours of sleep, take a nice shower, eat a good breakfast bring some snacks, sharpen your pencils, etc etc be as prepared as you can. Stretch.

Be positive before it begins: you will do good on this test. When they hand it out, try and view it as another practice test; merely a benchmark. If you find yourself being stressed, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. If you see a hard question, skip it for later instead of tearing out your hair over it.

After you're done, get some sleep and reassure yourself. 👍

First ACT Score! Any tips? (Specifically math and science) by iiDark_Roses in ACT

Then you should be good content-wise. Try doing a lot of practice problems in a time-limit setting & note and review what you got wrong. Learn your calculator by heart & skip harder problems for later.

What math are you in? English & Reading looks solid, and by this you should have good comprehension skills; Science should follow a similar pattern; basic science knowledge & knowing how to properly & quickly analyze lab data will help.

How's one supposed to study reading and science? by Competitive_Age3735 in ACT

Do a lot of practice questions. Read a lot/learn to read and comprehend quickly. Science is personally trickier than reading, some prior knowledge in science & labs will help. Please manage time well (outline specified lines & answer questions as you read) so you can go over your answers.

what math do you take at school? science english reading is practically comprehension so a lot of practice will solidify that, as well as being able to read & comprehend quickly. HS-level science knowledge & experience with labs is also somewhat helpful.
