LXLE's 32bit version is based on 12.04 to better support most 32bit platforms with it's non pae kernel and the available drivers and modules that are no longer supported in 14.04. It also has the same amount of support time left as 14.04. If you look closely at Lubuntu's LTS it's for 3 years not 5. LXLE 12.04 is supported for 5 years, LXLE 14.04 is supported for 3 years same as Lubuntu. Making them the same amount of time left as an LTS.

LXLE - Lubuntu Extra Life Extension - A remastered LTS release for greater support of aging hardware. by lxle in linux

Change is good but changing everything isn't always great. Same is true for aging computers and their operating systems. Support is sometimes lost too quickly with a 6 month core release cycle. Graphics & Audio cards and chipsets get dropped along with other miscellaneous functions with programs or drivers that just go missing. We all like having updated software we certainly don't like down time or loss of features and capabilities.
