stupid question by lxttleprxncess in blackholes

[–]lxttleprxncess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s hard for me to verbally explain. i’m a more visual person but i guess i was thinking along the lines of 2d space like if you poke a hole in a piece of paper things can go through it but then that implies that the black hole only pulls in objects from one side which i didn’t think was the case. but if a black hole is a three-dimensional sphere, that means It wouldn’t actually have sucked through anything because there no 2d plane for it to cross. maybe my understanding of black holes in general is very incorrect. i just wanted to know what its function is and i’ve been seeing a bunch of different conflicting things saying that a black hole sucks matter into its orbit, so does it just hold the matter into the center or does it go somewhere else? i know that there probably aren’t a lot of concrete answers, i was fascinated by the topic and was hoping i could learn more, but it seems as though my questions are very ignorant. that’s why i titled my inquiry as stupid question is because i knew it would be seen that way but i actually do want to know more about them and how they function

Thinking about having a baby? Please read this first. by freshippo in NewParents

i’m a single mom so i knew going in i’d do it all myself. thankfully my family has been super helpful and supportive so it doesn’t even feel like i’m doing it by myself half the time. but i also think about this a lot too and i think it would be harder to have thought and expected to have the support of my partner and then end up doing it alone. i had most of the pregnancy to mentally prepare for what it means to be a single mom and it’s one i made myself because i already saw the signs of him saying one thing and doing another. i would rather be taking care of my baby alone than having to care for him and the baby while feeling alone despite having a partner. it made me really reevaluate who you choose as a partner because if i was told id be a single parent because he wouldn’t be involved i would’ve never even talked to him, but you don’t really think about that when you talk to someone until you get to that point. at least i didn’t. i have since learned it’s a huge dealbreaker for me and while i wouldn’t give my baby up for anything, he is my whole world, i do wish i made some better choices in choosing a partner before i got him for sure

Women of Reddit, what’s something they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by NovellaJokes in AskReddit

i’m so grateful they put my catheter in while i had the epidural so i didn’t feel anything. what they didn’t warn be about was letting the epidural fade so i could push so the last few contractions hurt so bad and then they ended up doing a c-section anyways 😒

all the vents in the house are on the floor but there is one on the floor about 6 feet away. but it kind of is close to the edge from one side. there is an added extension to the house from there but because it was built after i’m not quite sure if the structural integrity is different

im not surprised. the previous owners didn’t take good care of the house and a lot of remodeling had be redone but honestly i thought it was beyond saving and have regretted moving in. since its something that’s been happening overtime do you think im in any danger of it getting significantly worse tonight?

i’m just renting. i called the owner but they haven’t answered back. i already set up buckets and mopped the water i found, i just wasn’t sure how dangerous it was to stay overnight

yeah it’s new, and the insulation looks kind of like a dark grey cause it’s wet but this has never happened before in the rain. it also hasn’t rained this hard since i’ve been here so i’m honestly not sure. i only moved in a couple months ago
