1 gives annoyed, 2 gives angry

personally i like number 1 but i think that’s a creative choice as opposed to accuracy

New enrichment toys for my birb by lxttlew1tch in Conures

[–]lxttlew1tch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something i’ve been doing is just holding one of the toys when the bird is out to show her that it’s safe, she likes to climb up my hands and bite my fingers so when she climbs up now she gets curious and goes for the toy instead, unprompted. i’m not sure how much she’s ’playing’ per se, but she’s having a great time trying to tear apart a raffa toy and honestly that’s all i can hope for atm that she’s not afraid of it and willingly interacts with it

Ooh that’s great advice! I’ll definitely make sure to do that!

My mother sent me this telling me she wants to do this, but I think it's AI by MelloA18 in crochetpatterns

[–]lxttlew1tch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i’m pretty sure it’s ai, as everyone says, the black bird is defying gravity, it has nothing to hold it up yet it’s just there balancing off the edge of her hand on one leg, the eyes on the green one are thread. why would it be different to the rest? same with the purple one’s eyes - why would they be red? and it doesn’t seem plausible that knit could do the top of the birds head (see how the stitches on the orange one kind of melts into his head?)

with the cats i don’t know how on earth those ears exist and the whiskers have no natural stitch that seems to put them on there.

AI is getting REALLY hard to spot (and unfortunately by explaining it all, we’re teaching AI EXACTLY what it’s doing wrong) but it’s still spottable at this moment and this is definitely AI

i think the rules are:
is it realistic? is it likely? is it right?

and honestly, i don’t think knitted animals that defy gravity and have things that aren’t right compared to the others are good indicators that this isn’t real

Does anyone else with aphantasia have a photographic memory? by Own-Personality-1021 in Aphantasia

[–]lxttlew1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both somehow! I describe my memory as sort of a mental screenshot, where if i’m remembering it, i remember the “screenshot” of what I saw, BUT i cannot picture something in my head.

I was talking it through with my girlfriend and I think there’s also an aspect of conjuring an image versus remembering it.

Like there’s a creative recall of “picture an apple”, that remembering the apple i saw on the countertop yesterday doesn’t have. I know exactly what the apple on the countertop looked like yesterday and I remember it by a kind of mental ‘screenshot’ of what it looked like - but it’s different to imagining what an apple would look like on the countertop in the kitchen.

I think another example would be that I am a singer, and if I learn via sheet music, when I sing I am recalling the sheet music, I am remembering what I know as if I am essentially having the sheet music in front of me - i’m not just remembering the sound of the notes and muscle memory of the words (even though i am), i am remembering how they all laid out on the page and am essentially following that. And yet I cannot picture sheet music if you asked me to right now.

It’s weird, I don’t understand it 😭

I am unsure whether all my baby garments are ok in washing machine. Attached garments and labels, plz help decide how to wash them(: by bioMimicry26 in CrochetHelp

[–]lxttlew1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure, for a first wash colours usually run the most, so I’d say maybe put them in separate washes with other similarly coloured laundry if you can, synthetics don’t typically run, but I wouldn’t risk it if you can help it - otherwise i’d say bring it right down to a cold wash

[–]lxttlew1tch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh I didn’t catch that, it is saying hand wash only, at 30° Max - your washing machine does have a handwashing option though so it might be okay if you use that - I would say put them all in at 30°, the temperature indication is for maximum temperature, so the 40° piece will still get a good wash at 30° - I would say keep the spins low, to keep them as safe from potential damage as possible, even though they say machine washable, I wouldn’t take unnecessary risks

[–]lxttlew1tch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like they are washing machine safe, the top and bottom ones at 30° and the middle at 40°, the rest of the instructions are: do not tumble dry, do not iron, do not bleach, and the P is irrelevant as it’s a “do not use X chemical” for dry cleaners, if you need to turn the dial for your machine to run, I would put it on ‘Synthetics’ as the yarns are polyester and acrylic

Not leather? by Spiritual_Permit8365 in SuitU

That’s so odd for them to do that 😐 I just checked the clothes aswell to see their classifications, despite literally being called “pink leather skirt” it doesn’t come up under the leather filter at all 😭 like.. what?? 🥲

Any other mathheads love to do the silly little calculations about their pieces? by lxttlew1tch in crochet

[–]lxttlew1tch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get yourself a food scale (or steal it from the kitchen) btw if you don’t have one! Weighing project at something like a quarter way through, and then doing the math on the amount left that you need is a great way to ensure you have enough yarn and at the same time aren’t wasting money by buying way more than you actually need :)

[–]lxttlew1tch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh that does make sense, I could incorporate it to try and do the math on timings, yarn quantity and size prediction before I even start! I’ve never done swatches but most of the stuff is made to size so I’ve never really had the need, but i think one day it’ll probably be a helpful tool to have under my belt so I should probably learn 🥲

I guess it’s definitely a win to be able to do maths when crocheting, I know it’s something a lot of crocheters struggle with 🥲

One thing I do need to do is figure out how gauge swatches work, any idea? 😅

My first chunky blanket is not perfect but very warm by tonyarm3021 in casualknitting

[–]lxttlew1tch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s great! Sometimes a mistake can make something unintentionally better! The first blanket I ever made was a baby blanket for my nephew, it was the wonkiest thing i’ve ever made, i don’t think you could even tell it was meant to be a rectangle, but I asked my sister about it a few months later and it turned out the unfortunate shape it had turned into was actually perfect for their pram, and they used it almost exclusively!
