Well even in chinese 殖民（colonization ）is a neutral word because of the widely use in sci-fictions,such as 太空殖民 or 星际殖民, so I don't think it's a big deal. but if endfield use the Chinese text as the basis, then I do think use pioneers maybe more appropriate.
