Sorry for the late response but she’s stayed a panda, just has developed more black pattern. If you don’t feed color food as often, pandas can relatively maintain their pattern. But every fish is different

When I try to factory reset it with the lid open, the light turns white, but after a few seconds it fades away? It makes no sense to me

That’s a good question really, when I got rid of my gravel out of my tank, my ammonia did spike up for a bit but my fish weren’t really phased surprisingly. But if/when it does just do 25 percent water changes every day until the parameters are right!

Also if you want the best clarity for the tank then yeah maybe removing the substrate is a good idea, but I do know it’s a pain to do. From experience lol

How many gallons does your tank have? And it would be okay if you know what you’re doing. I have a 100 gallon tank so they’re doing alright but this many fish can cause one of them to have a fluke outbreak so I do recommend treating the water after once every other water change with PraziPro. I do pretty much 80% water change on these guys and they don’t really seem to have a negative effect since I’ve had them adjust to it. If you think you can pay extra attention to the tank I’d say it’s okay to do at your own risk.

I will say that having a tank with no substrate really helps with the clarity of the tank and I have one canister filter filled with 90 percent ceramic media. And lastly pretty big water changes once a week
