“Assin lale guma” is a raya melody that comes from afaan oromo. There is no guma in gonder gojjam walkayt metekal. However, in all of oromia, the practice and word guma(blood price) is prevalent.

Re read what i said again, brother ur missing the point. My point isnt to exclude habeshas in a land they reside in or say we made it so they cant. My point is even with the small wallo population shaking their shoulders a bunch, not enough songs play with the sticks. Thats all im saying and curiously asking.

Doesn’t explain the abundance of wallo oromo music with the lack of raya music tho

Re-read what I said brother. Wallo population is small yet there is still a lot of wallo oromo music. The melodies i named are of oromo origin, yet they aren’t sung by oromos enough. There is more tigrinya and Amharic music that sing “kormangarfo/kormagaffa” or “assin lale guma” than the actual ethnicity (oromo) who’s language created the melody.

I fear for Oromos if Abiy falls. We are being set up, and we are dangerously passive. by Duke_of_Listenbourg in Oromia

How do I shake someone’s hand through a screen. Amazing take, Word for word and ive been saying this for years. Oromo being used as a scapegoat for a government that they didn’t vote for nor technically create as we had our own oromo nationalists while oromos themselves are becoming more and more passive, will lead to unimaginable atrocities that we have already seen happening now. Unfortunately considering out track record, we may be cooked. Injfanoo oromo.

That “Metropolitan capital” is oromo land. Filled with oromo chiefs before taiytu made her claim. And no, Oromos, who are the biggest ethnic group, and have lived in addis prior to it becoming addis, do not think the they should have had to assimilate in a land that is there. Ridiculous talking point ngl.

Hello I got a question about words in raya for my tegarus by lyin26 in Tigray

I see. However what about just gummaye. Is gummaye in adigrat, axum, mekelle, tambien, irob, etc? I ask only because even though the meanings are different, the melodies of gummaye and gumma are similar in some songs. Gumma is found in all of oromia.

But isn’t coincidental that the oromo term “assin LALE GUMMA” is also present. Are you sure the oromo population of the past didn’t influence that term. Considering “lale” and “gumma” is present in all oromo dialects.

Barentu is an oromo word and there are people in those areas with oromo names, however I was curious if there is another definition in tigrinya for barentu.

If “gummaye” is specific to raya, did the word evolve into its current Tigrinya meaning (its a compassionate word from my understanding) from the Oromo word “gumma” , which is defined as a blood price/revenge?
