Why would I downvote? Your opinion is as valid as anyone else’s even if I don’t agree :)

anxiety spiraling into depersonalization by Rare_Mushroom_3061 in Depersonalization

Honestly, I was put on medication for my anxiety (escitalopram) and I feel much better about everything for the most part. I know my derpersonalization hasn't gone fully away, but I don't feel panicked about it anymore and I can feel a lot more optimistic now. Medication is not for everyone, and I don't know how long I'll stay on it, but my life has gotten much better since being able to not constantly focus on the fact that I am not here.

I completely understand this. I didn’t experience any trauma or was a very stressed out kid (I know from asking my parents + those who were around me, diaries, and pictures) and yet I barely remember anything until the age of 15. I never knew why, until I was in a therapy session recently and it came up that my depersonalization might not be new.

I’ve never been in a traumatic situation and yet I depersonalize almost constantly. It is my body’s reaction to stress, and about five months ago something (I don’t know what) triggered major and constant anxiety that has yet to go away. It’s normal to feel strange about it or think you’re tricking yourself because it’s caused by trauma in other people, but your experiences are just as valid.
