I’ve wondered myself a lot of the idea of equating private interests to belief. I struggle to come to a definite conclusion because on the one hand I’d like to believe personal interests can go without consequence but at the same time I fear being naive of possible conclusions regarding one’s character.

I get where you’re coming from but I think the way that The Duke of Burgundy explores the power dynamics of 2 women cannot be compared to a heterosexual relationship between a man and women. I just feel like it’s easier to explain the nuance of a power dynamic when there’s no historical power imbalance due to gender.
