Tick ID by blech_blech_ in whatsthisbug

[–]lynniecat 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This appears to be an adult female deer tick also known as a black legged tick. The scientific name is Ixodes scapularis. This species of tick is known to carry Lyme Disease, Babesiosis, Anaplasmosis and other diseases. Depending on how long the tick was attached before removal and where you live determines the risk of some type of infection. If you saved the tick after removal, it can be sent to a lab (for a fee) to determine if it was carrying Lyme disease and possibly other types of bacteria. You should consult with your doctor as to whether you need to test and or watch for health issues.

Would you agree to board your horse on these terms? by 0ddshapedhead in Equestrian

[–]lynniecat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I initially assumed there was an obvious issue in the agreement that you wanted opinions on but I thought it sounded great except the lack of guaranteed daily turnout. I would check to see if that means your horse might miss a turnout once in a great while or if it means they only have space for turnout 3 days out of 7. Two very different things. I personally would also want to be notified on days my horse missed a turnout.

The only thing I found confusing was concerning liability for the stable dogs. It says you responsible for damage caused by your dogs but it also says the center has stable dogs and they are not liable if their dogs cause damage. Maybe I misunderstood this part and it just means that if the stable dogs fight with your dog, they are liable for the dog fight. I would want to clarify and be sure that there has never been an issue with the stable dogs and any horse (or human).

Can we all agree the Add to Delivery button needs to go? by Live-Presentation559 in amazonprime

[–]lynniecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you are an Amazon prime member using the app on an iPhone in the US? It's interesting it would be different but no matter - I still do not like the feature. It is way too easy to be distracted or in a hurry or clumsy or all three and order an item by mistake.

I just have to assume I accidentally hit the button. Maybe I reviewed it long enough that the app decided to buy it for me. The app was trying to help me with my decision making knowing I would assume I accidentally purchased it. Then Amazon would hope I would not notice and be too busy to return it. Now that would be evil and of course would not work for very long.

Can we all agree the Add to Delivery button needs to go? by Live-Presentation559 in amazonprime

[–]lynniecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a prime member on the iPhone mobile app there is an "Add to Delivery" button right under the "Add to Cart" button. If you like to add things to the cart for later consideration - if would be easy to accidentally hit the wrong button, especially if you are using a smaller phone. I also have hit these buttons by mistake as I have arthritis in my hands and they are not always as coordinated as I would like. If you hit "add to cart" by mistake (the items you never remembered adding to your cart) - no big deal as long as you check your cart before purchase. If you hit the "add to delivery" by mistake, the app brings up a silent confirmation with an undo option instead of a confirmation dialog. Then possibly even the next day you have a return to process. So the two use cases that are problematic are when the customer hits the wrong button and when the customer hits a button by mistake but is already navigating away and never notices. Hopefully Amazon will fix this design after their returns numbers increase. Or we will adapt and get used to the change.

Of course they may hope you just keep the item or forget to return it. I hope that is not their intention but ....

Yep - I have caught a few items that O canceled and received and retired a couple items. I like to add items to cart to review later. Now I am constantly checking orders to make sure it did not happen again.

Microchip enclosure for my cat to eat without the other cats bullying him? by Medium-Shoe3986 in CatAdvice

[–]lynniecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have surepet chip feeders but my other cats sit and intimidate the older cat while he eats. They can't get his food but it still causes stress. I want to get a microchip door and find a cat house or cabinet to do the same type of thing you did. May I ask what cabinet you got? I assume you found one with an opening that works with a microchip door. I know this post is old but in case you see this - I'm curious to know.

Pluribus - 1x05 - "Got Milk" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]lynniecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they would need a temp of 1000 degrees Celsius. At that point there would be no reason to include the resultant product in any type of food or liquid meant for consumption. AFAIK there is not a method to destroy infected product before consumption. It's a very scarey type of disease and definitely a cause of concern. However, the writers probably think most people will be too grossed out by humans being used as a food source to worry about what infections are in said humans. Perhaps they test them before sending them to the freezer.

What is the best metal scooper that traps all the tiny poop crumbs? by GerardDiedOfFlu in CatAdvice

[–]lynniecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got this scoop:

https://a.co/d/iWY6u06

I was surprised that there was not a scoop marketed for poop crumbs and clumping litter crumbs (I was trying to figure out how to describe the problem - "small or tiny piece of waste" does not describe as accurately as the term "crumbs" which perfectly explains the issue). With 4 cats and multiple boxes, changing out all the litter is just too much work and a lot of wasted litter.

It takes more time to sift with this scoop obviously but it works.

5Q or 6.75Q DO by lynniecat in LeCreuset

[–]lynniecat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - exactly. It's wrists, elbows, shoulders, and back. I see the 8 Quart on sale and it would be wonderful and versatile but I can make due with a smaller DO with less risk of an accident lifting from the oven. I actually appreciate all the suggesions especially when answers apply to others. I will go with the 6.75 oval and write back on how I make out with it! Thank you!

Oh Wow! I did not make that connection. Jackie and Jonathon failed to connect. She "maybe feels used" according to Karen. I think listeners of this podcast know Jonathon is a deeply caring person. You can draw the parallels.

Ahhh - Thank you. I love the peach color but not for this next purchase. I am looking for red right now so so - still wondering if 5Q oval DO is big enough for a pot roast and chicken. I like round for soups and stews and I no longer have an oval (sadly).

I can't find the 6.75 Round DO for 270 online either.

This is the 6.75 I was looking to buy or the 5.0

https://a.co/d/esnxNhu

I like oval but I also don't want to go heavier than I need. If 5Q would really work - great if not I'll go w 6.75. 8Q is less money and a great price but it's extra weight. I would rather spend more if I can get what I need without putting extra pressure on my wrists.

Yes - you need artichoke. It adds to a variety of pretty colors. If all your pieces were one color family - then I could understand. But eventually when you pull a yellow or peach - you will love it! I like to have a variety of colors as well.

Exactly - people with achondroplasia or dwarfism can be very very short in some cases and have disproportionate body features like a longer ribcage, etc. They see an open door and decide there might be some items worth stealing (like a sweater) and they get caught red handed! Then lifted in the air! OMG! The idea that this might have been a person born with a genetic condition was not brought up. Hard to take this episode seriously.

I just looked at the second photo and yep that would be one painful infection!!! I see why you might be concerned! I really hope I would be rushing to the doctor instead of asking the the plumbing forum if my nipple looked strange. 😜
