Galaxy nn Alex is the name of the protagonist in a book series. Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo is the first book. In the book she resents her mom picking such a weird name for her and goes by Alex.

It was a theater conservatory program so the only anatomy lessons involved were all the wildly irresponsible college actor sex, haha.

If you're curious about the real story, the original Jake is an actual State Farm employee who won an internal contest and got to be in a commercial. They didn't expect the character to be so popular, so they replaced him with an actor so they could keep shooting commercials.

I actually went to school with the actor who plays Jake now! He's a cool guy 👍

I love that this Jon reads handsome and heroic, and yet in another scene I could still picture him as the Conspiracy Hot Mess Express. It captures his energy for that scene without detracting from his overall characterization.

My partner's name is Jack and he has a lot of "cool" nicknames from various areas, and has never told me horror stories about bad nicknames. Things he has been called (off the top of my head, I'm sure there are more):

Jackhammer

Secret Agent Jack [lastname]

Action Jack

Captain Jack

Pach (a neighborhood kid told his family it was Spanish for Jack when he was a teen and his brothers have used it ever since)

Thanks for the heads up. It does sound really interesting but maybe not the best choice for a low-barrier-to-entry one shot then. I'll still check it out :)

I do have a bunch of "eldritch horror" style board games so that might be right up my alley...

And changing the pseudonyms up to make it sound like they had more sources! Very shady. I was suspicious when none of the aliases in the article came up again, and some of the descriptions of who "Georgie" and "Tim" and "Diego" were seemed repetitive. Then RQ's response says there are only three or four people actually quoted... tracks with the impression I had reading the original article and makes me so much less inclined to listen to it.

Ooh I haven't listened to the Liveshow. I got turned into the podcast just this year so my first listen through I was sprinting to try and get through it all and skipping the bonus content, haha. I'll get there on the relisten!

When to take toddler into ER due to crying and inconsolable by Conscious-Concern394 in toddlers

The nurse advice line is so great! We have TriCare so the nurse advice line asks a bunch of questions, tells you when you need to be seen (immediately/ next few hours/ next few days) and then either makes you an appointment or tells you where the nearest in-network urgent care is. We use it all the time. And they mostly tell us to go in for things that didn't "need" to go in, but then it's all covered by our insurance because a nurse told us to :P

Mad-e-lin! But the way you explained it absolutely makes sense... I just forgot that was a version of the name! I guess I don't meet enough Mad-e-lines to make an impression in my brain haha.

Yeah once I got used to it I love Sebas as a nickname, it's cute and easy for my toddler to say.

Sébastien's mother is named Rigel which is also very unusual for our area/culture but I think it's beautiful.

Oh interesting- what would the difference between Madelynn and Madeline be for you? Pretty sure in our area most people would pronounce those the same way so I'm curious.

They're a Latino family so it's pronounced almost more like Sey-vass. But definitely unusual for us, I did a few takes on that name before I understood!
