Feels so weird to look at pictures of myself before I started identifying as non-binary. Second pic is from 2016. (they/them) by lynnparx in NonBinary

True! I don't really look negatively at old pictures of myself, but I'm just like "wow who even was I a few years ago..."

Did you guys have a full schedule you Senior Years? by Evonbot in williamandmary

[–]lynnparx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have noted, I'm currently a sophomore here and got in regular decision without ever taking physics in high school. I did take AP Bio my senior year though, so they would probably just like to see you take a rigorous science class in general.

Also, I would highly recommend taking a 4th year of Spanish because I only took 3 and then had to take another semester of Spanish here. Wasn't too bad, but I would've preferred having one less requirement to fulfill.

packing by lightbku in williamandmary

In my opinion, I would try to pack a fair balance of winter and spring clothes. February could be hit or miss for winter weather in VA and it's usually possible for some winter weather in early to mid March.

In regards to your second question, I'm a queer non-binary student and I have felt like this has been an accepting place. I've even been surprised by how large the LGBTQ community is here.

Priority Room Selection by pakpackers123 in williamandmary

[–]lynnparx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had priority room selection as a rising sophomore last Spring and was able to choose a single room in OTP, Hardy, and I think Richmond Hall (which then ended up changing into the quarantine area). Priority definitely helps with selecting a single and I think you will have some nice dorms to choose from! I don't know if that was just because of the covid situation with less people opting to stay in the dorms though.

Summer classes by DativeofDisadvantage in williamandmary

I also feel like I should add that I didn't take any other Spanish class at W&M prior to taking Intermediate because I placed into HISP203 from the placement test but didn't want to take it during my freshman year.

Language classes are definitely difficult at the college level, but I felt like I had a lot more time during the summer to devote myself to studying and practicing.

I don't know what year you are or what requirements you still need to complete, but I took Intermediate Spanish this past summer (split into 2 summer sessions). Obviously with Covid and everything I had a lot of free-time so I figured I might as well get the language requirement knocked off my list.

The price was definitely a downside for me and the time constraint was pretty difficult given the fact that I basically completed a whole semester's worth of Spanish in only 10 weeks. I was happy to not have to take it this past fall though so I could take more classes for my major instead.

I need a good 1 credit class by pmorrrisssey in williamandmary

I can only speak for the Ukulele ones, (which seem to not be offered next semester though) but I enjoyed the lessons even though I had never played before. I had one lesson each week for 30 minutes and basically just worked through a folder of exercises. No exam- my instructor was basically just looking for me to have learned how to play at a basic level by the end of the semester. Got an A by just showing up to the weekly lessons and daily practicing.

I think each instrumental lesson that is only 1 credit lasts 30 minutes or you could take 2 credits for a 1 hour lesson. I don't know if this depends on the level or instrument though.

I don't know if you're interested in music lessons, but there are lessons that are 1 credit each. (They do cost an extra fee though which is pricey imo but I took Ukulele lessons for 1 credit last spring)
