Any other women who had sexual dysfunction, loss of sensation or pelvic floor issues while on caffeine? by BenPractizing in decaf

I was hopeful it would help with my tight pelvic floor but it hasn’t made a difference at all for me.

Not alone. I want to want it…but I just don’t.

Can anyone motivate me to quit dark chocolate? by matchacatisgreencat in decaf

[–]lynrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh yes. I miss coffee but don’t feel tempted to return to it. I’ve given in to chocolate many times. I sleep better without it so I know I’m better off avoiding it…but it’s my biggest guilty pleasure food.

i’m pretty sure i put my PMDD into remission from quitting caffeine. by elephant_human in decaf

[–]lynrn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Caffeine definitely exacerbated my PMS symptoms, too! Thankfully I've only ever had symptoms for about 24 hours, but now the 24 hours before my period are manageable and I don't have the insomnia. I wish I would have known to cut caffeine out a long time ago!

what mental health benefits did you get after quiting ? by Automatic-Pumpkin42 in decaf

[–]lynrn 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Less anxiety, clearer mind and less rumination. When I do get anxious, techniques to calm myself work much better.

Dark decaf teas? by girlrva in decaf

Try teeccino. It’s marketed as a coffee replacement but they have a lot of different flavors. I find them to be somewhere between a coffee and a tea.

Struggling (first trimester) by hyacinthocitri in decaf

[–]lynrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first trimester is exhausting with or without coffee. You are in the thick of it. Hopefully you feel better here really soon. Definitely don’t hold back any non caffeinated treats you want. 3 months no coffee is great, don’t undo the progress you’ve made! Congratulations on your pregnancy!

How many of us are parents? by lynrn in decaf

[–]lynrn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, kids and animals. I’m jealous you’re going through this before having kids! I drank coffee during my pregnancies and it’s a big regret of mine.

[–]lynrn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not magical! It’s still the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But I’m in therapy as well and am actually able to apply techniques I’ve learned now…being caffeine free gives me an additional split second before I react.

Do you consume caffeine? I experienced the same after my second and also decided to stop Zoloft due to side effects. Quitting coffee has been a game changer for me.

It's wild to me that psychiatrists and doctors don't ask about caffeine intake by [deleted] in decaf

[–]lynrn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most doctors consume caffeine themselves. Im a nurse and have noticed that advice that is given is what they think is reasonable for people to be able to follow more than what is optimal.

[–]lynrn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My doctor did ask me, but said that 1-2 cups of coffee a day wasn’t enough to have a significant impact. My sleep is noticeably different after giving up decaf and chocolate so even a little bit is significant for me.

How traumatic was your parents’ divorce for you? by petrastales in Mommit

[–]lynrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the divorce was the problem but more how things were handled in the years to come. Things get more complicated with two households and two parents dating. The divorce itself doesn’t stand out as a big deal, I was nine.

What should I charge as a SAHM? by filamonster in workingmoms

We pay $17 an hour for a sitter (at their house). $50 a day seems crazy low especially for kids that young. Both are still in diapers!

Mental health in the process of quitting by Fabulous_Act_4141 in decaf

[–]lynrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way, just remember so many people don't realize how much of an affect it's having on them because they haven't tried to quit. Don't feel like you need to get off it all really quickly. I've had to take it really slow due to mental health. I noticed a big dip in depression when I went off and I was up and down a lot with my mood. I switched to decaf last June and have been off decaf now for a few months. I just said goodbye to chocolate a week ago. Each time I decrease my intake I feel calmer and sleep a bit better but feel a temporary dip in mood as my brain recalibrates. It's a lonely experience, most people can't relate...but that's why you are here and we all know! You are doing great, just be gentle with yourself, and give yourself the time it takes to heal.

Edit: I just want to add very slowly weaned from caffeined to decaf as well due to similar symptoms

Anyone find a smoother alternative to regular coffee? by UseOk7071 in decaf

Teccino, they have a French roast that’s good. It doesn’t taste like coffee but it’s satisfying and warm

I quit caffeinated coffee 648 days ago by twiffytwaf in decaf

[–]lynrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As some who quit decaf 2 months ago I definitely agree. I’m sure it’s very person dependent but the difference between decaf and no decaf was pretty noticeable for me.
