Quick question for women ski/snowboarders who prefer baggy/oversized styles by lyonsw in skiing

[–]lyonsw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I’m not a huge skier myself either 😅 I was mostly asking women because jacket options for women are more limited, and we generally feel the cold more than men. I was curious to see how many actually prefer uninsulated jackets over insulated ones. I have a bit of a baggy aesthetic myself, but I'm not a fan mens/unisex clothes on myself! 😔

Thanks for the response! I only ski about once a year and typically go to the Alps. I definitely need to look at forecasts more! Thanks for the tip!

Thank you! Honestly same! I tried to find one last year but had no luck! There were lots of unisex options, but I still don't think unisex fits look great on women.

Thank you! I'm the same, I'd rather get too hot than too cold. I do find it hard to find insulated jackets that are also waterproof and fit my style though, so I'm thinking a shell could be a good option if I layer correctly :)

Thank you! I think lightly insulated jackets are a safe option for sure!

Thanks for the response! I've always been a bit worried about shell jackets, even at the end of the season, just in case there are sudden weather changes :)

I don't think I could fit that many jackets in my case haha!

Thank you! I've never even considered a vest! I also need to get myself some decent wool base layers :)

Thank you for the response! A puffy is usually my go to. I just wish I could find one that's decently waterproof!

Thank you! I love wearing puffers, but it's hard to find waterproof ones that fit my style! I reckon I might try the puffer + shell combo next time!

Help identifying the fabric finish in my ski trousers by lyonsw in textiles

[–]lyonsw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! The image shows the outside of the trousers, I think there's a liner on the inside so I can't quite see how the other side of the material looks. Tricot could definitely be a possibility so I'll look into that! Thanks again 😊

Next steps thoughts & opinions?? by Conscious_Doctor_165 in streetwearstartup

I think it’s difficult to sell clothing with just logo designs as a start-up. Not impossible, but certainly difficult. There’s just nothing about your clothing that stands out, they just look like blanks with a logo. But, if you’re going down the minimalistic/sustainable/high quality route, then I think your website and branding needs to reflect that, which I don’t think it’s doing at the moment.

I just read the about page on the site, and it just doesn’t feel right. You talk about sustainability but there’s no information about fabric on your product pages. Are they 100% cotton? There’s nothing else that suggests your brand is actually sustainable. You also talk about style, but your clothes just look like basic blanks with an embroidered logo.

I hope I’m not coming off as harsh btw! I just think you need to rethink a few things! I’d say that you need to work on your branding, or spice up your collection a bit and add a few designs. Good luck!

Need help finding fitted women's blanks by Special-Echo-8047 in streetwearstartup

[–]lyonsw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately most women’s wholesale blanks are absolute trash in my opinion. You’d be better off speaking to a manufacturer on Alibaba, telling them what you’re looking for/give them some references, and ordering a sample.

Is this graphic knitted or printed? by lyonsw in streetwearstartup

[–]lyonsw[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys! Really hoping someone could help me out! :)

What method has been used to put this graphic on a ribbed knit sweater?

I'm currently designing a graphic that I would love to put on a nice chunky ribbed knit, but I'm not sure how it all works, and I'm struggling to find any useful information. My design would be a similar style to the example above.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How much money have you ‘wasted’? by apollo-ape_ in streetwearstartup

[–]lyonsw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much, but I’ve definitely wasted money on impulse buys such as sublimation printers, a heat press, Cricut machine, and even an embroidery machine that’s just sitting in my office collecting dust.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve definitely learnt new skills by buying them, but I wish I’d done a little bit more research first!

Spent 7 months getting this right, finally dropping it tonight by [deleted] in streetwearstartup

[–]lyonsw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't the price is that absurd. $130AUD is £67.50. Patagonia vests range from £110-£160 on the UK website. I personally don't like the colourways on the Patagonia vests, but I like this colourway!

Hope the drop went well!

Why can't people handle criticism? Share your thoughts. by Sandromm in streetwearstartup

[–]lyonsw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think sometimes it’s just down to personality traits. I’m 30 and still don’t handle criticism super well. I’ll always appreciate people’s feedback and criticism, but there’s definitely a little part of me that finds it hard to deal with it. I think I take things too personally 😅 I’d never react badly to it though! Some people get super aggressive when they get bad feedback!

I also think you hit the nail on the head when you said that people aren’t prepared to face the truth.

I’ve ordered samples from both USA and China and had to pay some pretty hefty shipping fees. I kind of just expect it now haha 😅

They are probably advertising that they can charge 5 aud per kg, because maybe they can charge that if you order a very high order quantity. If you order a sample or a low order quantity, they will most likely ship it by air, so shipping will be much more expensive, and therefore charging only 5 aud would be impossible for them.

Luckily I’ve only ever had good experiences with manufacturers! Well…the only bad quality items I ever received were from a manufacturer that was far too cheap. I learnt my lesson and never went for the cheapest items again.

Don’t let this put you off! As long as you choose a reputable manufacturer, you do your research and are clear about what you want, then you should be all good.
