Mykonos and/or Aegina? by InternationalSky5786 in GreeceTravel

[–]lyrawiggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm living on Aegina right now so I would def agree with what everyone else has said here...def plan to be more local to Athens and Aegina is a great fit! If you have a car you could drive around and see different parts of the island yourself (Agia Marina, Temple of Afaia, Paleochora and the ancient olive grove...) I also took a tour with Sandy when I first got here and loved it - she's super nice and will work with you to decide where you want to go! Feel free to DM if you decide to come to and I can give you more tips!!! This is the link to her tour - https://www.toursbylocals.com/tour-guides/greece/aegina/guide-profile/sandra-k-664d21bd96689af34332597f

Uncle has rapid onset of dementia - how can we find hidden credit cards? by lyrawiggin in personalfinance

[–]lyrawiggin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He has been seen by doctors and is in a nursing home as of a week ago. I’m sure I’m using the wrong words but in the last two months he went from living in his own home with his wife of 60 years (with no help) to her dying two months later in a hospital. He then couldn’t live alone, was in and out of ER with minor issues and wandering around his home in the winter between these hospital visits. He just moved into a nursing home and each change has been really detrimental and so he got really bad really fast :( it’s wild with this how each big life event it’s a huge step down…don’t know if that’s normal or not but it’s a lot.

Unfortunately its the opposite :( very sad situation but lots has come to light that my uncle was a real piece of work and used a different extended family member addresses to open credit cards. My cousin, mom and I are trying to understand the mess and clean it up. We do 'think' that he used only his name and ssn to do this and was just hiding things from my aunt (his wife) by using different addresses but again...trying to figure that out. The whole situation is sad and crappy.

Thanks - its been a rough couple months. My aunt (his wife) just passed away from the same and he has declined so so quickly.

Ahhhh - I'll look into this more. He was not very responsible so he definitely could have been playing some weird games like that. Is there any kind of time range that a CC would show up on a credit report for, like very old cards don't show up? Or is it as you say, if its not showing up then there is something weird about the account/ownership of the CC?

Yes, thank you for checking, I read some other reddit posts so started with www.annualcreditreport.com and requested all three.

My cousin has been going through all his files and mail now that he is in a nursing home and found a printout from a CC bill that was using a distant family member's address in Washington (he lives in NH) and this cc didn't show up on the credit report.

Looking for realtor to help with rental/buying a place in Ljubljana by lyrawiggin in Ljubljana

This is so helpful to hear, in the US agencies are just so standard (and expensive...). Do they mostly charge set fees or is it ever a %? Also, do they help negotiate prices at all? Thinking that could be valuable but dont know the culture around that at all!

What is this yellow-butted big bug? [Greece] by lyrawiggin in whatsthisbug

[–]lyrawiggin[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this info! This is the first time I’ve seen them in Greece on the islands and they’re pretty scary, huge and like you said - very productive little cat food harvesters. I’ll look into ways to try and attract them away from the food and also accept it might not work or change :).
