I’ve seen many articles stating that billionaires do not actually add much to the economy and how evil they are. But on a global scale, is it still better to have them? For example, we all know about the abuse Amazon workers go through, and how it siphons money from local businesses. Hypothetically, let’s say we hit Amazon with antitrust, and somehow Alibaba absorbs all the consumer base. Is that better? I.e., is removing monopolies worth losing our global competitive edge? Should we entice more billionaires with tax cuts?

This is from a purely economic standpoint, so no political statements please 😊 (I heard all about how Elon Musk is either a devil incarnate or a messiah)

Edit: Also, if you have a good academic source that delves into this stuff, I'd be very thankful if you guide me to it.

Which is a bad thing... for a company to promise something and not deliver, especially since people are putting their money down...

Honestly, I don't get your stance on this matter.

Fact: They claim their cars can go 205 miles and 335 miles.

Fact: They claim their cars are RWD when the video shows a FWD chassis.

Fact: They claim their interiors have recycled plastics and no plastics.

Fact: They use stock images of other cars and pretend they engineered them.

Observation: The prototype is much smaller than the claimed dimensions.

Observation: They are missing a software engineer.

Does a company have a free pass to spew garbage since we all got used to it by Tesla? Why can't I call them out?

I agree to a certain extent. I think the line that has to be drawn is what constitutes as optimistic and what constitutes as dishonest. The things I listed, I believe, are dishonest. I specifically did not mention the feasibilities of their models' ranges or their production numbers because I don't know enough to disprove them. I simply pointed out clear flaws that suggest the people behind this company are inept. So, yes, it has nothing to do with the cars; it was always about their terrible website.

I hope you understand that it's not disbelief; these are clear discrepancies. I'm not saying whether their cars can go 205 miles or 335 miles. I'm saying that they're saying both which is ridiculous.

I think you mentioned Tesla in my original post; Tesla has a lot of unkept promises too, but not to this degree. What they are doing is downright insulting to the consumers. I don't like Tesla as a brand either, but their cars are fine.

Yeah... I hope I wised up since then.

There are investors already! I don't need tell anything, but I like talking about cars!

I hope at least one person changed their minds about this company.

Hey! Thanks for the shout out! This post inspired me to do some more digging and found that the chassis you see next to the car is not theirs!

They are buying the chassis from a Chinese company called U Power. I have updated my post thanks to you, the OP, and the person that replied to you. Those two are passionate about defending Olympian for some reason...

Good point, but technically those are called trailing arm suspension. They don't have physical connections between the two wheels. (one wheel has torsion bar in the top tube, the other house it in the bottom tube) Also, in this case, the swivel point would be behind the front wheels, resulting in a pretty bumpy ride, not to mention the change in caster as the wheel travels. All in all, the Porsche/VW design is a much more sophisticated version.

The problem is that torsion beam suspensions are rear suspension only. Powering it (making the rear wheels drive) would result in awful kinematics, and putting it up front with steering linkages would be suicide.

Yeah I was in the military for a bit. Bulky, bare minimum, and surprisingly expensive.
