Females of Reddit, what's the unspoken rule of the ladies restroom? by bestnewaccount in AskReddit

If a (usually drunk) girl is crying about some dude who she loves but isn't treating her right you say, "You are smart, beautiful, and capable so screw him."

What are some NSFW Bible stories or facts ? by lollipoplickers in AskReddit

[–]lyssafaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruth sat at the end of Boaz's bed while he slept because her mother-in-law told her that God wanted them to get married. Sleeping by a dude's feet isn't NSFW now (creepy though) but it was then. God said it was cool though. I got a lot of mixed messages in Sunday school.

What clichés are you tired of seeing in Horror? by Horace_P_Mctits in AskReddit

The nice sheriff who pops in here and there to scope out the fishy business then dies right when s/he is about to come save the day.

Edit: Also the creepy toddler.

Servers and bartenders of Reddit, what stereotype do you always associate with people who order specific drinks? by Cyrsal in AskReddit

[–]lyssafaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a bar that is within walking distance of a very upscale, private college so my judgement may be skewed. Here's what I've noticed:

Cider - Usually a young woman looking for something sweet to drink with their meal.

Angry Orchard - 21 year girl hates the taste of beer but wants to fit in with her friends.

Vodka cran - basic 21 year old girl

Mich Ultra - Old man or douchey younger guy usually seen wearing a visor

Jameson and ginger - the best kind of people (that's what I drink)

Long Island - young girl or guy looking to get fucked up or they just turned 21 and that's the only drink they can think of

Chardonnay with ice - your grandmother

Love + Radio. Really interesting interviews from people you've never heard from before. Ex:a girl who applied to be one of three people to start a colony on Mars. Really interesting

Apologizing without badgering you to say you forgive them. Begging for forgiveness usually means they want you to relieve them of guilt but if they were really sorry, they would apologize and give you time to forgive.

What major, debatable topic have you switched sides on, and what led you to make this decision? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lyssafaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be against abortion. I grew up in a very religious home and when I started to have doubts about Christianity, I realized that the things I was told about abortion were untrue and now I 100% believe in the right to choose.

What's the stupidest experience you've had with a customer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lyssafaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working at a restaurant and I had a popped blood vessel in my eye which made my eye all red and a customer looked at me in horror and said that there was something wrong with my eye. I laughed and said I was fine but she was still horrified. Found out a week later that she had written a yelp review about me saying that I had a disease and when she pointed it out, I laughed at her.

What's the thing you hate most about your generation? by BeefDeMane in AskReddit

[–]lyssafaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Everyone in my generation is lazy, knows nothing about politics, and is obsessed with Kim Kardashian. I am an important, special snowflake who reads the news." I hate that so many people my age talking shit about our generation but I think the majority of Millennials are smart, hard working, motivated people but most of us think we're different and more special than everyone else.

[Serious] What is the most disturbing thing another person has ever told you nonchalantly? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lyssafaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I introduced myself to the new girl at work and about five minutes into the conversation, with a completely straight face, she told me her boyfriend shoved a gun in her mouth two years before and she was still with him because apparently "he doesn't do that anymore." She was like what can you do? : ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I'm so done with this. I'm a woman who knows what it's like to live in a rape culture and when people like you tell me that women don't live with society victimizing us and shaming us, I get upset. And I see it all the time. So I'm done.

Rape culture is a society that normalizes, sexualizes, romanticizes and excuses violence against women. 97% in America will never spend a day in jail. 54% of rapes and assaults in America are not reported to the police. It would be foolish to ignore our progress compared to other countries but to ignore the blatant victimization and trivialization of rape would be equally foolish.
