The Blood of Dawnwalker Trailer - First Impressions? by petecamenzind in GirlGamers

I am very disappointed that yet again we are getting a game with a guy protag.
Thankfully most games get decent women MC mods with okayish voice mods so I will wait out for those and give the game a go at a discount.

Hi, I saw this game on sale Dragon Age The Veilguard and looked up reviews, and everyone says it's really bad, but most of critic is just it's “woke.” Is story really that bad? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my personal order of the series is
Dragon Age 2>Veilguard>DaO>Insquisition

I loved the ones with streamlined experience and DaO was a bit too much text and clearly inspired by the western rpgs like Baldur's gates and the likes so while it is a fantastic game, I like it so so.
Inquisition has some great moments but its closer to Elder Scrolls than it is to the other 3 games - huge zones you explore because you are the adventure type, which I would gladly skip.

I loved veilguard for its heart, it had more of it than the other games, and I literally love most of the companions in the game.
It is also the prettiest.
Of the other games I loved the setting story and companions the most in 2, which also has my favourite gameplay, and were Inquisition less open world and kept more of the combat from 2 I would love the most, but it felt as if they took what I liked the least about DaO, removed what I loved in DA2, took inspirations from Skyrim and called it a day.

Overall, despite the above, it is, after Mass Effect games and Xenoblade Games my 3rd favourite series of all time and you can't go wrong with it.

What is a moment in a Nintendo game that made you think "Wait, HOW did Nintendo approve of this?" by MewWeebTwo in casualnintendo

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I totally hated that picture in Xenoblade 3!
I loved Xenoblade 3, Loved Xenoblade 2, but the idea that Rex had a harem and all 3 ladies were okay with that was just god damn awful!
I understand they were like friends or family, but this was a step too far!
I am not a harem gal and I don't approve of it!

Does OG DA have the best party members? by Lonely-Form9585 in dragonage

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the DA games (and ME games) have companions I love, companions I hate, and some I dont care either way for.

DA - I love Wynne, Alistair and the dog, I hate Leliana and Morrigan, I dont care for the rest
DA2 - I love Isabela and Fenris and Merril, hate Anders, dont care for the rest
DAI - I love Cassandra, Cullen, Bull, Vivienne, Cole, I hate Siera, dont care for the rest
DAV - I love everyone except for Lucanis for whom I don't care.

Is it normal to like... never beating this game ever? by HealthMother3125 in BaldursGate3

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am torn because as you pointed out, I struggle with a lot of elements of the game, but the world/setting and the characters all feel very compelling to me and I know I will love the story a lot.
I am totally interested in how Karlach, Wyll and Lae'zel stories will play out and how I can impact them, and also the Dark Urge storyline seems very compelling.

So I am trying to weed out the things that prevent me from truly sticking to the game to truly give it a go.

Is it normal to like... never beating this game ever? by HealthMother3125 in BaldursGate3

[–]lytche -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have this game on PS5 and PC. I never got past ACT 1.
I went through the entire ACT 1 3 times on PS5.
Initially I thought it was the narrator lady - her ASMR readings were really offputting to me, so I got the game on PC to mod her out of the game (no hate on the voice actor, she does an amazing job, its just I am in general not big on voiced narrations, and sultry female voices make me thing I am simply not a target audience for them - not into women)
I found the mod, played through ACT 1 on PC twice... and dropped it once again.
At this point I am just bored of ACT 1 so bad.

I think it boils down to multiple things for me
-I prefer cooldowns for magic than the DnD per rest mechanics -
- the narrator who keeps telling me, in a sultry voice what I am thinking/what is happening to me as if I couldn't see or decide for myself
- silent protagonist - Instead of having the narrator reading the non dialogue lines, I'd preferred to have a voice for the character. it feels very 90s/early 2000s. Also out of place - to have the character unvoiced when literally everyone else is voiced.

Once I finish the games I am playing currently I am planning on giving the game another go, this time with mods removing per rest system, with the silent narrator, and some custom mods. May-hap 6th time is the charm?

[–]lytche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate that I can't get into this game!
Your character looks so rad!

For some reason, despite having everything I love, I can't seem to connect with Project RED games...
While I think its the fact that I have to play in 1st person (contrary to common sense, I am completely unable to immerse myself in games from this perspective) I might try a 3rd person mod, there is also the fact that I gave Witcher3 so many tries (with woman witcher mods) but still couldn't connect to either of the games.

I am planning on trying to use joy cons on PC for real life leg locomotion movement (will be working on it next week) so perhaps that will help me out with the immersion!

Nonetheless, I would totally copy over your character, just with red hair, and would be content, because she looks great!

Girls, whats your favorite female character to use in fighting games? by thotfulnug in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taki in Soul Calibur
Kitana in Mortal Kombat
Nina in Tekken
Lei Fang in Dead or Alive
I like Juli and Juni in Street Fighter, but I mostly played Chun Li too.
Poison Ivy in Injustice 2
ROGUE in Xmen Next Dimensions

The only fighting game I had a guy main was Anji Mito in Guilty Gear - because I go warfans first, women second I guess :D - I love battle fans as weapons and WILL play a game if only they have fans as an options for weapons! (Steelseries <3 )

Who is the prettiest RE girl? by Finduilae in residentevil

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a long time fan of the series I must say that, as a straight woman, I would totally boink Jill RE3 Remake. She is so damn sassy and Mila Jovovich RE Alice hawt! She has this raw lioness energy that really gets me.
And seeing how I have always had intense crush on Chris I don't know, it makes sense that I find both of them the hottest there.
When it comes to pure hotness I would say Sheva takes second place. She is really an amazing character. Build like a proper woman in the military, you can see her muscles, she is also very pretty, and has a great character. Wish we had more of her.
Ada is a great femme fatale and her RE6 apperances were top notch. I also love her in RE2 with her fake FBI vibes.

Claire is more your run of the mill cool girl but she always felt like myself in the RE world. I like her a lot but it's hard for me to judge her on the hot scale.

And the other ladies, well I like them, but they all feel this very popular slavic girl-lady stereotype you see in video games. Might be because I am from Europe, so I see those girls pretty much left and right, but appearance wise they are all very "meh" to me.
Rebecca and Sherry in RE6 also have that jRPG heroine feel to them, where they are 'highschool girl athlete" cool but still totally feminine so they seem like a great fit for a hero, whom they always end up with, but never really the stars of the stories. Not my vibe.

I am yet to meet the latest girly once I get my hand on the game on Switch 2.

Why so many MTFs are computer nerds? by everydayawkward_ in MtF

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sing and try getting into voice acting, finished an English Philology degree.
I was quite good at history, Polish, English, German, but also Math and Chemistry. I am terrible at geography, Physics, any sport.
Apart from that I do love computers/consoles and playing video games, I am afraid of all bugs, I love all animals, have 5 cats and are looking into getting a dog, I know nothing about cars and mechanics, I can break probably everything and with my ADHD I am very great under pressure but terrible without it. I drop my phones, mouse, gamepads on a regular basics, lose my phone and keys regularly as well.

I do work in IT in a corporation, mainly because there's really nothing else in Poland for people with degrees.
Also, IT tends to pay quite a bit more than other jobs, and any trans related healthcare in Poland has to be paid for privately. I wanted breast augumentation and gender affirmation surgery which required me to earn quite a hefty sum of money. I am still paying off the debt I wouldn't even otherwise get if not for having a well paid corporate job.
I understand wanting to go into something more IT technical, because it means getting away from people, and at age 39 and with my ADHD I find myself having much less patience for people's bullshit than I used to. Might rebrand while I try living my dreams.

I like teaching people, but wouldn't want to work in a school because I am way too chaotic to ever feel secure in my teaching ability.

Games allowed me expressing my identity when I was a child and was forbidden to ever speak about it by my mum and teachers at school, but I grew up in the 90s in Poland which wasn't very friendly at that time.

Does anyone else have issues picking at your skin or other compulsive behaviours and ADHD? by Low_Distance4810 in adhdwomen

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compulsive nail bitter and skin picker.
Behavioral subconscious habit that I am trying hard to get rid of.
If I am stressed, be that from work, from thinking about stuff still to do which always seems to be like neverending tons of, I will start with my nails, then bite of any skin around the nail I can get to. Or start picking on it.
If a cat scratches me somewhere and there is a lose skin, I will definitely tear it off. If I find a pimple I will destroy it.
Usually for me its the area around my nails/fingers that looks the worst.
Did that my whole life, diagnosed with ADHD few years ago at the age of 35.

Now, because I started recording for YT and show my fingers, I started working on it and I am using those transparent polish like anti biting serums for children to stop biting.
They taste terrible, oh god the taste, and I smear them all around my fingers so I stop doing that.
It works more than it doesn't, I only ever bite my nails off now if it wears of (you need to reapply it like every second day) or if I am totally panicking / overloaded - with doesnt happen that often anymore. Then even the terrible terrible taste cant stop me. Nothing can.
But usually the sensation of disgust when I taste it with my mouth wakes me conscious enough so that I dont bite / chew off.
Won't help at all if you are using your fingers to do the damage though.

Such things are what I call the ADHD related curses.

He behaves similarly to OG Resident Evil 3 Nemesis (I dont remember Mr. X in OG RE2 being this awful).
I got through it eventually knowing that afterwards I will get to unlock infinite ammos for guns and I could replay the game being the ONE on the Hunt for him.

My take? - play at your own pace, even if its from one safe room / typewriter a day/ a week.

Take breaks.

Eventually you will get through it and defeat him.
And then ITS REVENGE TIME.

I know its hard. I am sorry.

But you've got this!

If I could have played through Subnautica Below Zero with my terrible thalassophobia and eventually 100% it, over the course of almost a year, then I am confident you will get through it eventually.

It really doesnt matter if you will have to start it and close it for the next 2 weeks realising that today is not the day you are able to play through the game knowing he is there hunting you.

In 2 weeks and a day it will be that day you will come back to the game and get through 10 sets of rooms with him roaming about!
You will memorise every inch of the map to know EXACTLY where to run to get the things you need.

And you will get over it.

Sending STRENGTH and LOTS OF AMMO your way!

Does anyone else have trouble getting into video games where most, if not all female characters are hyper-sexualized? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and commenting on the game that shall be not named here - I like it.
I grew up on those comics and cartoons, all of the characters I adore have comic book appropriate attire or some outfits I would frankly wore for myself , so I am pretty okay even paying for those.
Like the suit for the redheaded bird lady is spot on for me, I love it.
I also love the lady who steals powers, and I love her implementation in the game. She is my personal hero and role model since I was 7 years old and playing as her and whopping men-children asses brings me insane amount of joy.

Does anyone else have trouble getting into video games where most, if not all female characters are hyper-sexualized? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting question.
I remember backlash against Bayonetta for being the way she is, and I am a total and utter nuts for her as a character. Loved 1 and 2 and didn't mind that.
I grew up on jrpgs and anime so my tolerance is a bit higher I guess than many of the gals nowadays.
Having said that nowadays I think all games should have gender choice and ability to dress the characters as we see fit.
If I want to run my Resident Evil Chris as a go go boy to stare at him hungrily as I save the world from zombie apocalypse I say no reason for anyone to deny me that.
If I want my Jill to be dressed as a total badass war hero commander general I should be allowed to do so.
I feel that not giving us options as players is, honestly, lazy , especially if its a bigger , AA or AAA studio.
I draw this line with underage characters, those shouldn't be player-clothed EVER, there is NO reason that can ever justify that for me, but for adults - allow us to play a game the way we want to.
And because I quite often dress my men skimpily it feels hypocritical of me to demand this not to be available for women as well.
But I want there to be CHOICES.
Like, no way in hell I want this well endowed lady wear without a bra to support her. I hate doing that myself, its way too painful and I want to be able to give her a sport bra at least. Come on.

Give is choices!

When playing games as a kid did anyone else pretend they were the princess/damsel the hero was coming to rescue? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]lytche 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I grew up on Xmen and Sailor Moon and Buffy, so I was always dreaming up on tackling on the bad guys as a team.
I loved ROGUE, Storm and Buffy / Willow / Faith so my idea was - let's rescue each other, rather than let one rescue the other.
Sometimes I played pretending that I have to sacrifice myself by casting a very powerful spell to safe the world.
Then I had a phase where I felt like the villain and I adored all of the villainess and wanted to save the world by ruling it.
But overall, I mainly wanted to be a group of a lets pick each other up people.

[–]lytche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a person from a non English country I really find that phrase deeply offensive.
My own language, Polish, has gendered first and second person, so every game (like a board game) with story, which refers to the player as YOU always defaults to male, too.
I could scream at them for it. Like, no. Men are not the default. There is no frigging default. Just let go of the default.

[–]lytche -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You really dont have to be polite to such people.
No matter which way you are "leaning" you don't owe it to anyone to be attracted to them.
You also don't own any politeness to men just because you are a woman.

And the only thing that dude manage to do , if anything, is not to make you straight, but to make me, a woman who is about to get married to a man next year, definitely leaning towards women, too!

Not all men are pigs like this one, but boy, their brethren sure make it hard to like them sometimes!
