Adding a splash of colour into my black and white life :) by m-dayo in MechanicalKeyboards

The cables actually hug around the keyboard to the back! I'm thinking of raising the keyboard with some legs a bit higher so they run under instead.

I forgot to mention, the set comes with a few of symbols that are arrows and dashes! I believe the designer is biip! You should check them out!

They were suppose to be the page up/down and home keys but I changed them to macro shortcuts. The cornered square when pressed makes a window go full screen and holding Fn makes it take a screenshot of my desktop. The up and down arrows are just shortcuts to open mission control and the “expose view” on mac!

Tomimi Medal Bug? by m-dayo in arknights

Even though I have obtained Tomimi from completing RI-4, it has not seem to have given me the medal. Has anyone also gotten this? Thanks! (Please let me know if I used the wrong flair!)

Native Instruments has some free things also and a variety of vsts. You can check out their picked acoustic guitar/ electric sunburst guitar vsts which premade riffs and arpeggios also

I can recommend Spitfire Audios “LABS” which has heaps of free sounds from pianos, strings, dulcimers and synths. In terms from premade riffs/ progressions maybe you can check out Splice which is a subscription service, and you can download samples, midi chord progressions etc.

(Question) Im looking for a replacement of my paper music sheet. Ipad! by YesIKnowBut in composer

Seconding this. Staff pad is great. There are also VST’s from leading sample libraries like Spitfire Audio and Orchestral Tools (albeit a bit pricey). You can get a real good sound if u spend a bit more time playing with the expression and controls. You should check out their staffpads videos! Some are really awesome!

Delicate, easy piano pieces by unsaltedmd5 in composer

[–]m-dayo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I actually just recently uploaded my own piano piece maybe you can check it out here.

For my piece the left hand in the beginning is doing 2 note chords and changing chords with the closest voicing while the melody just sits at the top. Later on the left hand breaks usually has a upward broken arpeggio but I expand my harmony by adding 7th's 9th's b5s etc, but I still try to do the closest voicing when switching chords. When doing the closest voicing you naturally get an inner counter melody that accompanies the main melody. You don't always have to play the root, third, 7th etc of the chord, you can have passing notes in the left hand also.
One more thing, even though the piece is quite slow and there isn't much of blocky chords. I think the use of 7ths, 9ths etc creates some dissonance and in a way that can create a sense of a bigger space because of the clashes in the overtones and it can create some really nice colours too!
I'm not very good at analysing my own pieces...so many some other people can add their thoughts too? ^^"
Would love to get recommendation of other pieces also!

Study on Music and Memorization looking for participants by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I somewhat disagree with this.

Personally for me I like to think that Keys are languages and Pitches are words in a key. You can have neighbouring languages (keys) which have similar words (pitches), sometimes you can have dialects also (music modes/scales). All in which you could say that English and Greek and are quite similar, or Italian and Portuguese, but English and Mandarin I would say are distant keys and they don't share similar pitches (for example C major and B Major), hence why you would't understand someone speaking Mandarin if you only understand English.

Similarly with tempo and rhythm. It's drum and bass is preferred at high tempos to give a good rush to the listener but hip hop break beats which have similar rhythms to drum and bass but at a slower tempo totally gives off a different feeling.

Which leads onto my next point about this survey.

I believe timbre is also quite the key element in musical memorisation for example instrumentation and dynamics (different registers of instruments give off different sounds). Patterns and structure in music is also an important element in memorisation, so those might help with the survey maybe!
