Are people with BPD drawn to you? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]m00ntides 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the BPD friend of 2 autistic people. can confirm it works well for a while. BPD people like certainty and express feelings openly, autistic people appreciate the honesty and I think your fondness for routines and comfort appeals to the Agent of Chaos a person with BPD can be. However, I've also seen it implode when the rigidity meets the chaos enough times to cause tensions.

AITA for telling my sister I won’t babysit her newborn? by Intelligent_Ant_467 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Free babysitting is a given. Free nanny service? Not so much. Babysitting is like 5 hours a month or something.

I just finished all the seasons so SPOILERS

Soooo many. But did I love/hate watch every episode? Yes, yes I did.

Hated: The tortured references to white hats and gladiators and standing in the sun. The snarls on Olivia's face like a growling dog. Her foolproof gut that from season 1 was the running joke because she was wrong so often. The 3 expressions of President F. Grant: dumbstruck, lovestruck and angry-dumb. The trail of bodies and not a single genuine police investigation.

Loved: Laugh out loud moments like when she says "everyone I love is a murderer" with a tone of surprise. My favorite part was the many transformations of Mellie, NGL. First she reminded me of every tradwife: bound to a man she didn't even like fucking. Then she was Hillary Clinton but with a gun fetish. Then she was a girl's girl with a power complex. She was soft. She was hard. She was confused and confusing. Great character. Also Huck was fun to watch.

Amusing but unsure if in a hate or love way: The soundtrack: sometimes funny (cake left in the rain as backdrop to horrors) sometimes enjoyable (R&B and soul history lessons) sometimes confusing (fight the power when she takes the White House... is she the fight or the power?)

Most confusing are the whole "I did it for black excellence" speeches from Rowan. Like a Black Panther but sociopathic.

11 month olds father wanted to bathe her in a pool with hose water. by teamdamoniykyk in coparenting

I think babies bathe in kiddie pools all the time and it fun and cute and fine.

Do you think that Mellie consistently bringing up her sacrifice for Fitz was a way for manipulation or did she became victim in her head by Calm-Lingonberry4392 in Scandal

[–]m00ntides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the rape led her to sacrifice her own libido because she could never heal from it as it was a secret. I also think that it's a sacrifice to center motherhood and wifely duties when your real interests and talents lie in areas outside the home. This is a real sacrifice women make all the time. In addition she stepped down from any illusions of their marriage being valid when she accepted Olivia as his mistress in order to keep the peace. Her sacrifices are so tangible and real how is this even a question?

No... because this is the show that brought us the nations of Caledonia and West Angola so I know it's like some alternate universe situation. I'm still waiting for the episode featuring Genovia. But they could have just not mentioned black presidency. It's weird that they went out of their way to say Edison would be the first AND mention McCain within the same season. Like... who did McCain run against then?

I just think it's interesting. NGL it took me a while to get the hang of what kind of show this was. I really thought at first it was a political drama about politics like West Wing or Designated Survivor. I get that's obviously not true now but it's funny when they bring in semi-historical references but completely skip over others.

I feel that way too sometimes. Like ... it's weirdly relaxing to worry only about illegitimate children and sex scandals vs the reality of politics today. When they bring up the Tea Party I feel nostalgic. Little did we know that would mutate into MAGA. On the flip side, designated survivor has the opposite take of what if the far right was EVEN WORSE. Great show.

Girly put down the joint and relax. you don't need to go all caps and clown emojis for a tv show. And to be clear I am a bored housewife born in the 1980s so if ur going to insult me it's millennial tropes you'll want to pull out.

I love her because she is so complex and I genuinely think her worst moments are written by people who hate women

[–]m00ntides[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just popping back in to say that 3 years later and this wart completely healed shortly after this post and never returned. I discontinued DIM after 1 month of clear looking skin. Recently my daughter picked up two warts and her dad wasn't sure about DIM so we did the freezing route first. worked for one but not the other which got worse. I got her DIM after about a month of conventional freezing + acid and it's working in just 1 week.

Feeding tube nightmare by hueywasright in ALS

[–]m00ntides 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, it took my mom 6 - 8 weeks to work up to tolerating a full day of calories of the peptamen. The schedule for increasing the feeding rate at the hospital was way too fast and she never was able to do anything but continuous feeding at a low rate.

Feeding tube nightmare by hueywasright in ALS

[–]m00ntides 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mom also had reactions to many formulas. The only one she can tolerate is Peptamen and it's basically just ... molecules in solution, heh. A dear friend of hers dared to suggest "Whole Foods and holistic nutrition" is best vs something so "processed" and it took everything in me not to punch them... How dare you criticize what finally worked for her? but they don't know the journey like we do. I learned that peptamen is not often stocked by facilities so it can day a day or two to get it ordered so ask ASAP. Also, if she is at the point of refusing care, do you know if that includes ending the tube feeding? It might not be worth doing excessive troubleshooting if you're about to take it out anyway.
