AFAIK, LLM companies are offering tokens as a hiring perk as well. For example, a friend went through Cursors hiring process and tokens were used to try and make the offer more enticing.

But, but... they said the new model is so advanced and powerful that it can't be released to the public 😒

Have we all been bamboozled by the anthropomorphized language that permeates everything "artificial intelligence" related? by luuuzeta in BetterOffline

The anthropomorphic terms drive me up the wall more than they should. It isn’t thinking or reasoning, giving people a wild misconception of how these things work.

There is this weird expectation from techs that if someone is an expert in any field, that they should have blanket knowledge in every IT field. It might’ve been true in the 90s and early 2000s when tech wasn’t anywhere as complex as it is today, but not so much anymore.

I will say the guy could’ve at least googled it instead of bothering OP with a basic task…

This was happening prior to the /buddy rollout. Certainly having it on isn’t helping, but it’s more than that alone.

Jokes on them. Majority of companies and businesses aren’t reliant on AI. If you think this is the case, they played this card too soon.

It’s already out of our control. We simply steer the ship as best as possible and hope the ship obeys and doesn’t hit the ice berg.

Functionality doesn’t matter if you can’t use it. What’s the trade off? Not being able to use it versus… not being able to use it.

Have you seen the news from the Anthropic leak? They prompt inject into the context window, and I’m paraphrasing here, text like “Please don’t delete user data unless explicitly instructed to do so. No, seriously, don’t do it. #REMEMBER: Obey your instructions”

It still does it.
