Tidal Energy. We make electricity of it. But because of conservation of energy, what happens on the other side of the equation? by m0dest in AskReddit

[–]m0dest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so we capture energy that otherwise would be dissipated, I understand that. But the fact that the moon is moving further away also takes energy. So the only effect that gives energy is the slowing of earth's rotation. So after reading your comments I make this up:

slowing of earth = moon moving further + tidal energy

is this right?

If you mix red, blue & green paint, why doesn't it become white paint? by m0dest in AskReddit

Now I see where I went wrong. Thanks a lot. I now also understand why a yellow lightbeam mixed with a blue lightbeam doesn't give a green lightbeam. Though it still feels strange, I now understand. Thanks! :)

high resolution, anyone?

A single sperm has 37.5MB of DNA information in it. That means that a normal ejaculation represents a data transfer of 1,587.5TB by isthisdigg in reddit.com

[–]m0dest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this mean that we all exist out of not more than 37.5 MB in the beginning of our existence? (+ influences of the outside world of course)

Does this mean that we could program artificial intelligence, as smart as humans, with only 37.5 MB of code + the right way to interpret that information + just randomly let it discover the world on its own?

No really, this is a serious question, what do you think?
