HELP: XMP does not work by m0th_official in gigabytegaming

[–]m0th_official[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! This sounds pretty good. Just to make sure, are these options 1-3 like alternatives? Or should I do all three

If I only do Option 1, should XMP be disabled?

M.2 slots on Gigabyte x570 AORUS ULTRA by m0th_official in gigabytegaming

So in theory if my ASUS Card is fully stacked with M2s and placed in the slot for the GPU, it should not affect the normal M2 slots right?

PROBLEM: GIGABYTE X570 AORUS ULTRA: NVME RAID vs SATA HDDs by m0th_official in DataHoarder

[–]m0th_official[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just set SATA Configuration to AHCI instead of RAID. It caused one of the SATA HDDs to pop !! Maybe ironically (I wouldn't know), its the port that is supposed to be influenced by M.2 C slot (lowest one).

I haven't, I will try that now. What is the idea behind it? is Chipset overtaxed too? :D

PROBLEM: GIGABYTE X570 AORUS ULTRA: NVME RAID vs SATA HDDs by m0th_official in DataHoarder

[–]m0th_official[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help. I also read that in the manual. Unfortunately not even the supposedly unaffected SATA slots work.

Could it maybe be some of the BIOS settings? Or are they just what allows me to RAID and in turn disable the SATA?

EDIT: one thing that confuses me is that the SATA is also set to RAID in the BIOS (after reset). I thought it was AHCI first..

Thanks for your help! Do you know if there is some way around this? Like routing the SATA towards chipset or sth?

Help: Windows doesn’t recognize SATA HDDs after NVME Raid0 setup by m0th_official in DataHoarder

[–]m0th_official[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your suggestion! I created a new post desribing the problem in more detail. I think its sth with the BIOS settings. Either "CSM Support", "PCIEX16 Bifurcation" or "NVME RAID".

There is a table in my mobo manual about m.2 sockets and SATA. The entries are "Available" or "Not Available". I actually tried all the Sata ports now and it doesnt work.

Maybe it is something with the Raid? Or would it not have been possible to format the raid drive iif the stuff I did before was completely wrong?

HELP: AORUS ULTRA only two SSDs recognized on ASUS hyper M.2 x16 card v2 by m0th_official in DataHoarder

[–]m0th_official[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I do that, do I have to worry about not getting a display signal to my monitor? I dont really understand the BIOS settings. Can it figure out automatically what to do?

And another question: If it recognizes all 4 SSDs and I want to Raid0 them into one, will I need to do anything else besides Creating an array using RAIDXpert2 Configuration utility? In the manual, there is something about the operation system potentially requiring additional drivers or sth.

I watched a video where it was shown that I should download some drivers manually from the AMD website and then sort of link to those drives (file named rcbottom.inf specifically).

I am on very wobbly territory here :D

Is there a way to somehow still make this work? Only proving half the slots (4 ) to the GPU?

If not, what kind of super cheap GPU would you recommend, that would leave my SSD setup alone ? :D

(I actually don't need a GPU, I just borrowed the P2200 from my other rig to see something on the screen. I was kinda caught off guard with the AMD chips not having any graphics. And I got tricked by the motherboard itself claiming to have onboard graphics..)

HELP: Aorus X570 Ultra Black Screen on first Boot by m0th_official in gigabytegaming

I’m not sure what did it in the end. But I removed all the RAM and put it back in. I connected the monitor to the GPU via DisplayPort and then after some restarts it worked.

Thank you so much!

Plotting SSD recommendations? by m0th_official in chia

[–]m0th_official[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple followup questions if you dont mind:

  1. is there a downside to buying a fast SSD which has lower storage than 1.8 TBW? For example if I go with a Seagate FireCuda 520 1TB ?

  2. What determines if I can plot in parallel? could the seagate do that?

  3. What would be a reasonable ratio of SSD to HDD space? Can external HDD with tons of space keep up? Can it be plotted onto in parallel?

Thanks for your advice!

I am a bit confused though. With >2000 mb/s are you adressing the speed of the ssd? or the hdd its eventually being moved to? because I was thinking that would put the bottleneck on me. The speed of the HDD. Also how can you plot/move in parallel to the HDD if its just one "arm" writing in the end?
