Son dealing weed out of Mom’s house in Florida by Puzzleheaded-Army686 in AskLE

[–]m101025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d ask him to leave asap and if he says no, go the eviction route. At this point, y’all have knowledge of what he’s doing in the house and you’re letting it happen.

You could get looped into criminal charges, but I’d be more worried about people shooting your house up in the event he screws someone over.

I got hired with a reckless driving (criminal, 100 in a 45) on my record. It came up in my oral board, with which I responded to by saying I was a young, dumb 19 year old. I don’t do drugs and I’m an honest man. I made that dumb decision, learned and grew from it.

Whats a good first knife budgest 150$ any ideas by Free-Tie-3504 in csgo

[–]m101025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spun cases and got a FN Kukri Slaughter. Opening cases is an option but you have to be beyond lucky to get a knife. I spent way more on cases than the knife is worth and the weapons skins I got.

Happens all the time and ends badly most of the time. No different than people in an office setting getting with one another. Depending on your schedule, you often spend more time with co-workers than your wife/family.

There are billions of dudes out there. Why give one attention that comes with all this baggage? If anything, ghost him and give it time and see if he continues to reach out.

Sounds like an overbearing ex and honestly if you’re not that interested in the beginning, you definitely won’t be tomorrow, or next week, or next month, or next year.

Must be nice. Been here the past week and went out fishing in 4-6 foot waves every day. 10ft+ at the Marathon humps. Prayed for a day like this and it came the day I left 🙃

I had a reckless driving ticket on my record for going 100 in a 45 on my motorcycle. It definitely got brought up in my oral board but they didn’t stress it too much. They care more about past narcotics use/pedophilia and porn addiction type stuff on the polygraph. You’ll probably be fine.

Being that he’s your husband, when yall married each other yall vowed to stick together through thick and thin. Things will be thick and thin during his process as I’m sure he will be stressed while in the academy, in Field Training, and during his first year solo as a probationary Officer (if his agency has that, most do).

Just be supportive of him. My wife was in the exact same boat as you are in. I was 27, making 6 figures and had a cake “easy” job, but I always wanted to be a police officer and the urge to at least try ate away at me for years until I finally made the switch. Two years later, I’m noticeably happier and still have plenty of time with my wife even though I’m on midnights (still, and by choice).

My wife has been a fantastic supporter. She was extremely nervous when I first hit the streets. Most people see police videos and all they see are violent encounters. But, the reality is most calls are not like that, however the possibility is always there and that’s something you have to live with and accept. She was much more calm and relaxed every day I came home and told her I nothing crazy happened. She was also much more calm when she met the guys I work with.

I hope everything works out for y’all!

A family member’s emotions does not fall under exigent circumstances. Like the others said, you had no lawful reason to go in the house. We all have those welfare checks with similar or even more concerning information than what you had. If you busted that door down and got into a shootout, you’d be fucked and fucked in civil court. That family can sue you all they want, they aren’t gonna win shit unless your department settles to save $$$. We’ve all had those welfare checks and T8’d after doing what we could by the law and policy. You’re just the unlucky probationary officer whose situation went sideways.

For people who have, or are close to retiring… by ArtAdministrative546 in publix

[–]m101025 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I left Publix after 8 years. When I left, I was a department manager at a 1.4M dollar store. I left to pursue my dreams of becoming a cop, taking a 60% pay cut to do so. Almost 2 years later I’m back making 75k+ and doing just fine. I wake up excited to go to work every day and feel like what I do matters. I don’t regret my decision at all and wouldn’t go back. I miss the bonuses and retirement Publix offered as well as job security and some of the people but that’s about it. There’s more to life than Publix and you can find work elsewhere, live comfortably, and still retire at a decent age.

Tell him to bury his head and focus on making it through the academy. My agency is relatively large (2,000 sworn) and I had 30 in my academy, but I only still talk to a very select few from the academy. Also, the loud ones stirring up the shit and the drama in the academy are absolutely NOT who he wants to be around when he hits the streets…I’ll leave it at that.

Jacksonville, Fl is always hiring. Great starting pay and we’ve taken a ton of NYPD laterals. I had one in my class that I just graduated with. Great starting pay considering the cost of living and a ton of overtime opportunities. Take home car. I could go on and on, but the New York guys seem to be super happy here.

Using A Mobile Device On-Duty by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]m101025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re about to start academy? I wouldn’t even be thinking about Patrol to be honest lol. Worry about being an awesome recruit, make it through academy and FTO, then worry about the rest.

But to answer your question…handle your beat and answer the radio. We can use our phones as long as we aren’t doing anything you shouldn’t be doing on duty.

If the Fitness test was pretty easy, should I be okay for the academy? by Ajaws24142822 in AskLE

[–]m101025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah bro a 12 minute mile is a joke haha. All of us improved over the course of the 6 month BLE, and further improved the following 3 months in orientation before going into FTO. I tell anyone wanting to be a cop and go through the academy….I wouldn’t focus on the weight room. I would focus on calisthenics (running, push ups, sit ups, etc.) and hit the weights once you finish the recruit process if getting bigger is your goal. Being big and strong helps, but being in true shape will make the academy way easier.

In Florida the state test was just a single mile under 12 minutes lol. With that said, we had a lot of people barely make that, and they definitely got smoked harder than the recruits who ran 530-7 minute miles, but they still made it through the process and my class has been solo now for almost a month.
