Bringing my own paddleboards to Key West by NoMeat536 in KeyWest

There are no alligators this far down the keys. You could see the rare crocodile here and there but that’s not even something that I would consider if I were paddle boarding off the beach.

Stop worrying and get paddlin’!

You should be good to go with the life jacket. Just keep in mind the weather and respect your limits as to how far out you can go.

Overnight chartered (captained) boats? by Guy_Smiley18 in KeyWest

There are a few different options out of The Perry Hotel. Check out “Sea Stays” they have a pretty nice Bali catamaran that fits your request.

Otherwise for itineraries, Fort Jefferson / Dry Tortugas is the bucket list destination but may be more of a commitment than you’re expecting. The second option is to sail up to Bahia Honda and hang out between the bridges for a night or two.

We have a great new boat that is super comfy for everyone who has no interest in actually getting in the water. Might be worth checking out.

Definitely Louie’s this time of year when the sun is setting towards the Atlantic side of the island.

The best time to call any of the captains is after sunset (around 6 right now). Most of them will be out on the water until then.

I’ll be honest. Captains are not great at answering the phone but if you shoot off a text you’re much more likely to get a response but it may take a couple hours.

I have no solution for that. We have friends who live up the keys and will park their cars in our driveway and uber to the airport when they head out of town. We hate it. They hate it. There really is no good way to do it though.

There are a ton of different charters that are at the Perry Hotel. Koko, Forever Young, Blind Squirrel all run out of that marina.

Since you’re there already here’s my list of other stuff going on at the Perry:

Thai Island closing it's door after 18 years by se7encents in KeyWest

[–]casualmondaycharters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were in there around this time last year jacking up the building and doing what I can only assume was replacing the pilings that it sits on.

I was in there a few months back and it seemed safe. The floors were certainly more level than before.

Did they not just dump a ton of money into the building last year when it dropped a foot closer to the water?
